Sesshomaru's Unknown Past- My Master- Chapter 1, New Source of Hope

I fell to my knees in the flooded grass of the forest floor. Tears flowed down my cheeks and mixed with the rain that drenched my body, both trying desperately to cool and comfort the remainder of my shredded soul. No, not again. That one sentence filled my mind and helped to blind my vision so I did not have to look at what lay before me. If they could see me now than most likely Mother and Father where crying for me as well, maybe they they had created this rain for me from the world of the beyond. I bet they had hoped that what had occurred to our family when I was a only a child wouldn't happen again to any of the people I deeply cared about. Yet here I was, spilling my eyes out as I looked at my dearest and only real friend, Kirra, dead before me. No, not again, please no. I collapsed to my hands and pulled mud into my palms as I clutched the earth for support. My breath stuttered and my chest heaved as I sucked in air far too quickly. Finally, even my knees as my palms couldn't hold up my wounded body and I fell face flat into the soaked floor. I drifted out of awareness before I slipped into sleep.

When I awoke I felt as if was moving. It took me a few long moments to realise why. I was on top Yakul's back still wandering though the forest. Most likely the red antelope like demon had found me in the mud after we had gotten separated during the attack. Yakul was my partner, he had once belonged to my older brother Kazekawa but he was no longer around so I had taken Yakul with me when I left home. A little farther into a journey through Japan we had run into a female tiger demon, Kirra. We had become fast friends and until now had traveled together happily. Now only Yakul and I survived, and Yakul couldn't talk so he wasn't much as company as he was a loyal steed.

"Let me down." I ordered in a voice seeping of exhaustion.

Yakul snorted obviously unsure of my physical condition but obeyed and allowed me down. As I got to my feet I was unsteady at first but I found my footing quickly enough and started through the forest on my own legs. When Yakul tried to follow I told him to leave me alone for now. He obviously wanted to keep moving but I couldn't just continue on and forget, go on as if nothing was wrong. Where would we go anyway, what would be the point of going on anymore. I couldn't even remember where we had been headed in the first place. I wasn't even sure if I wanted to continue with anything anymore.

I wandered thoughtlessly for a time until I heard a different noise than the overly happy bird songs and the blowing of leaves in the wind. Someone was making noises, a growling of pain and discomfort and something else making a hum of an unreal sound. My numb body followed in the direction of the sounds having created a thread of hope attached at its source as if these noises where a call to me and me alone offering a future. I followed it until I found an opened space n the thick trees. One large tree stood in the middle of the small clearing and laying against it was what the tread of hope connected to, what destiny called me to and to who I would find a new connection with as an even dearer friend than Kirra.
