Another day, another mission in the life of Jason Todd, otherwise known as the red hood and his group of fellow antiheros, the outlaws, his partner in crime, Roy harper AKA arsenal and princess Koriand'r of tamaran also known as Starfire, this time they're at the heart of Africa and they're about to ambush a warlord that was vital to Starfire's slavery as a child, as kory describes, a "disgusting creature" known as grohler, who was currently loading his ship with children to be later sold to other slave masters across the galaxy.
The outlaws are currently waiting behind the bushes planning their assault.
"Alright kory, is there any tips you might want to give us before we start? Jason asks. "He does not come alone, there's always a group of minions at his disposal, it is probably the reason he's been able to get vast amounts of "merchandise" as he calls it, also he always had a box with him at all times, he said it was a special measure that guaranteed his safety.
"Wow, so he's not wining Nobel peace prize any time soon" Roy says in purpose of making the mood a little lighter, but receiving glare in return from Jason.
"What does he mean by Nobel Prize, is it a reward or a punishment of sorts?" kory asks Jason who is still watching the scene as he listens. "Don't worry 'bout it star, just means he's not getting away this time" kory smiles at his friend but returns to scowl at the warlord laughing as his lackeys force the children to aboard the ship.
"You want to take him out, baby girl? Roy asks star as he stares at the warlord's figure, Grohler was a massive creature and it seems that he was arrogant enough to not wear a lot of armor, but he was holding said box that kory mentioned, the box was small and black in nature with intricate designs decorating its surface. Kory's scowl intensifies as he keeps on laughing.
"As much as I despise him, I realize that his death by my hand would be me giving him attention, something I do not wish to give such a low form of life, although I would not oppose if any of you were to kill him"
Jason and Roy stare at each other before Roy talks "well as much as I enjoy a good boss fight, I think I'll just cover for princess" he smiles warmly at kory and she returns the gesture, Jason nods acceptingly "well, guess I get the big guy, this should be fun, so our targets are clear, so here's the plan" he then gives kory and roy a pair of smoke grenades," first we need to make sure the kids are out of danger, kory take that tree over there" he points to a large tree at stands a few feet behind the ship's entrance, "on my signal, both of you throw the grenades , kory as soon as you as the smoke starts to form I want you to fly as fast as you can, this asshole decided to make business in the middle of the day so the smoke will only distract them for at least 2 minutes, get the kids out of there" kory nods and starts to hover just a few centimeters above the ground to get to her position, Jason then turns to roy "roy you take the east and be ready with your bow and calibrate your mask to thermal vision, as soon as these guys see smoke they're going to know something's wrong, let's make sure they're not breathing by that time" roy makes a mock soldier pose in reponse " aye aye jaybird" and with that he goes to get an advantage point on a rock, Jason just shakes his head as he lets out a low chuckle at his nickname "one day I'll shove an arrow up his ass if he calls me that again" but he turns to focus on the mission at hand, he presses a button on his helmet to open the comlink "you guys ready?" he hears Roy answer first "ready" and kory says after him "I'm ready as well".
He sets his gaze upon grohler one final time before smirking under as he readies his pistols.
"alright it's SHOWTIME"
