A different hello
Nate started to clap as he saw Sophie exit the back of the building "I thought you were great"
Sophie dropped her bag in surprise, her eyes wide. "What the hell do you think you're doing here?" She grabbed her bag off the ground and stomped over to him
"I came to recruit you for a job" her angry demeanor did not intimidate Nate
"Well I'm sorry but the last job you recruited me for you left me alone in the rain. Do you know how bloody long I sat there crying" The tears started to fill up in her eyes
"I was married then Sophie"
"But you had no right to lead me on like that! NONE!" Sophie shouted at him
"Just this one job!" Nate begged
"You have done nothing to earn my help." Sophie spat
Nate took a slight step back. Sophie had never been this angry with him. "What's wrong Soph?"
"You're what's wrong Nathan! I gave you everything because I loved you and you crushed it into little pieces and pushed me out the door" Sophie hissed
"I never meant to..."
"So this job, how do I know it will be different? What's changed Nate?" Sophie crossed her arms
"I have no one"
"Are you saying that you need me now" The edge on Sophie's voice was still strong, giving Nate no sign of comfort.
"I guess you could say that" Nate swallowed hard
"Well I'm sorry but you'll have to do better then that" Sophie pushed him backwards and she stormed off. Not at any point during their argument did she notice the three people behind him.
"What did you do that pissed her off so much?" Eliot asked
"We're not friends Eliot" Nate gave him a cold look and walked away
"Well it makes sense why she hates you! 'Cause you're just so nice to everybody" Eliot shouted sarcastically
Nate walked after Sophie leaving the thieves to themselves. Once he caught up with her he dragged her into the nearest dark alley.
"Let go of me Nate!" Sophie struggled against his firm grasp
"What do I have to do Sophie? I need you! I picked you! Not the other three" Nate growled
"Other three?"
"Parker, Hardison, and Eliot" Nate moved so his hand were pressed against the wall, trapping her.
Sophie gasped slightly and she gave him a genuine smile. The smile made Nate just melt, it was that smile he always fell for. "You're playing my side?"
"Uhh" Nate tried to stop staring in her deep chocolate brown eyes. "Yeahhh"
"I always knew you had it in you" Sophie smiled even more
Nate couldn't help but smile back. "So are you in?"
Sophie shook her head yes. "I wouldn't miss this!"
"I knew you wouldn't" Nate smiled and put a friendly arm around her. Sophie just moved closer to him and they walked back to where Nate had left the 3 thieves. His car was gone and there was a note taped to the trash can by where his car had been. It read:
I borrowed your car! Hope you don't mind. I'll have it back at 10
-P
"Parker stole your car?"
"She says she'll bring it back at 10. That gives us about one hour to walk around" Nate looked at his watch
"It'll give us some time to catch up! Remember the old times" Sophie smiled
Nate smiled back. "Those were some great times"
