I do not own Phineas and Ferb.
First Phineas and Ferb fanfiction, so here's hoping it isn't horrible. Reviews are wonderful, flames are not. Thank you!
To Bust Or Nothing To Bust
Candace twirled around, dozens of white petals flying around her body, which was fitted with a beautiful white sundress. With a cheerful hum she skipped through the field of daisies, the bottom of her dress flaring around her ankles. Off in the distance, a blonde boy was galloping towards her on a handsome black steed.
"Jeremy!" she called, a smile lighting up her face as she frolicked to meet him. "My love!"
As he came closer, he opened his mouth to proclaim his ever-lasting love for her-
"Rrrrrrrrr."
Eyes snapping open, Candace toppled from her bed and landed on the soft carpet. Fumbling around in the dark, she managed to find her nightstand lamp. Pressing the button and blinking against the harsh light, she glared at the disturbance of her dream.
"Perry!" she snapped, trying to clear the haziness from her vision.
The teal-green lump in her bed stirred and stared up at the angry teen with sleepy black eyes. "Rrrrrr," he repeated.
"Don't rrrrr me." Candace got to her bare feet and snatched Perry up. "I don't know many times I have to tell you to stay out of my room."
She stormed out into the hallway and to the door across from hers, which belonged to her brothers. She hammered on the wood, knowing that despite the early hour they were no doubt already up and about.
"Come in," called Phineas.
Candace opened the door and barged inside. As she expected, Phineas and Ferb were already dressed for the day, inspecting a complicated looking plan on their blueprint.
"Hi, sis," Phineas greeted. Ferb nodded and waved.
"Hi," she returned shortly. She lifted Perry into the air and gave him a slight shake. The platypus gave a noise of protest, which Candace paid little attention to. "How many times do I have to tell you? Keep Perry out of my room!"
To finish her point, she dropped Perry onto Ferb's bed and gave a dramatic huff.
Phineas smiled, hardly fazed by his sister's behaviour. "Sorry. He must have got up during the night. He really likes your bed."
Candace was about to retort when she noticed two large trunks sitting by the foot of Phineas' bed. "Did Mom finally send you to military school?" she asked hopefully.
"Nah. We went through that one, remember? We're going to summer camp!" Phineas pointed at the blueprint in front of him. "We're just finishing up the final invention we're going to build while we're out there."
Candace frowned. "Summer camp? Isn't that kinda..."
"Stereotypical?" supplied Ferb.
"Yeah."
"I suppose so," said Phineas. "Two kids going off to summer camp and learning to tie knots and stuff. Not very exciting when you think of it like that. But Ferb came up with a bunch of cool things we can do to make camp more exciting. Besides, Isabella and Baljeet are coming too. Buford's not feeling so good, so he has to stay home."
Candace grinned gleefully. "You mean I get three whole weeks to myself?"
"Actually, you'll be with Mom and Dad and-"
But Phineas did not get to finish his sentence, as Candace began to cackle in her maniac manner and start to jump up and down. Watching calmly as the redhead tore out of the room shrieking with crazed laughter, Phineas turned to his brother and said,
"I still think we should bring the blowtorch."
...
Linda peered around the kitchen doorway, watching her daughter. Candace was slumped upside-down on the couch, flicking through the channels on the television with a bored expression. "Honey, you've been sitting like that for the past ten minutes. It can't be healthy."
With a sigh, Candace hauled herself upright and the flush slowly disappeared from her cheeks. "I'm so bored."
"I guessed that much. Why don't you call Stacy?"
"She went to visit her relatives in Tokyo."
"Jenny?"
"Save the Whales protest."
"Jeremy?"
"Went to band camp. He's lucky he's cute."
"Well, since you're not busy, you can take Perry for a walk." Linda's tone conveyed this was an order.
"Oh, fine," she grumped.
Linda smiled. "Thanks, dear."
As she slipped back in the kitchen, Candace groaned and pushed herself up into a standing position. "C'mon Perry. It's time for your walk!"
Silence answered her summons.
Scowling, Candace went up to her brothers' empty bedroom and glanced at Perry's pet bed, which was just as empty as the rest of the place. She jogged down to the kitchen and stared at his food bowls. They were still full, which meant he hadn't eaten breakfast yet.
Hands pressed up against the kitchen window, she peered into the backyard. Also devoid of platypus. Now slightly panicked, Candace tore around and stared at her mother, who was chopping up vegetables for a salad. "Perry's not here!"
"Yes he is. I saw him napping in Phineas and Ferb's room just a few minutes ago."
"Well, he's not there now!"
Linda sighed and carefully placed the knife she was using to cut up lettuce near the edge of the sink. "Then he might be in the backyard."
"He's not there either!" Candace cried. "I looked everywhere!"
"Well, Perry couldn't have just disappeared!" said Linda in exasperation. "He knows better than to wander around outside on his own. You just didn't look hard enough. Goodness knows your eyesight is questionable."
"I am telling you, Perry is not here! I'll prove it!"
Tearing into the hallway, Candace let out a yelp as her foot struck into something and she crashed to the hardwood floor. Rolling onto her back, she stared at Perry, who purred in greeting and apology.
Linda stood in the doorway, hands on her hips. "You proved it, alright. Proved that you need an eye appointment." She snorted and headed back to making her salad.
Candace gaped at the platypus. He was so not there a minute ago!
But then again, sudden disappearances and reappearances were what the platypus was rather good at. She was starting to recall all the times Perry suddenly would appear out of thin air, with no one having a clue where he went in the first place.
Where does he go all the time?
Candace got to her feet and brushed off her shirt. Now that her brothers had left for camp, she no longer had anything to fill her day. Though it was slightly sad to think her entire life was devoted to busting her brothers, she would not give up anytime soon. She would succeed one day, and then would her mother be sorry.
But she was free for a few weeks, with nothing better to do. Maybe it was time to see where Perry went off to everyday. Filled with sudden resolve and determination, she picked her pet up and carried him off to her room.
You are so gonna be busted, Perry.
