Moonlight Lullaby
Lenalee woke to the sound of one of the triplets crying. She slowly got out of bed to check on Allen and his little ones.
Ever since the delivery, Allen just wanted to be left alone with his kids. Lenalee did not blame him. As a new parent, she bet that she would feel the same if she was in Allen's position. Johnny and Reever did not make Allen come out, when Allen wanted to come out, he would. He mostly came out for food, and to heat up baby formula.
Tomorrow, she was due back at the Order with Reever. Johnny was on orders to stay with Allen for 1 year, but then he would also be called back, leaving Allen alone with the kids. She could not believe how harsh the Order was being, they did not need personnel back that desperately to leave a 17 year old alone with 3 babies in an empty house with no help.
She walked down the hall to Allen's room; she could still hear the hushed tone of a baby crying.
To make it easier for Allen, they set up the cribs in Allen's room so he would not have to walk down the halls and he could be close to his children.
Lenalee gently knocked on the door and entered. The scene she saw before her was beautiful.
Allen was rocking a baby Aaron to sleep in his arms as he hummed the 14th's lullaby. Lenalee watched him; his white hair reflected the moonlight. Allen smiled and gently set the sleeping baby down. He looked up and was shocked to see Lenalee. "What are you doing here?" He whispered.
"I came to make sure that you were okay." Lenalee said.
"I'm fine." He whispered.
"And the kids?" She asked.
"Even better."
Lenalee smiled and watched as the proud father checked each crib to see if everyone was okay. Lenalee looked her friend over, he looked different.
Allen was 17 now and he looked like a man, not a kid anymore. He had lost a lot of weight since the delivery, he was not perfect yet, but he was back to his slender figure. He grew a lot during and since his pregnancy. He was about three inches taller.
Lenalee watched as Allen touched Rin's cheek.
Ever since is pregnancy, Allen's hair looked extra silky, but she was not certain that it was just hormones. Allen's biggest eye-catching feature of his manhood was definitely the tiny bit of stubble on his face. During the day Lenalee could not see it, but at night the light reflected off the little white whiskers.
"Sorry to bother you." Allen apologized.
"No problem." She smiled.
Allen was no longer eye level with her. She had to incline her head just a bit, but it was not as bad as an incline to Lavi and Kanda. "I'm going to go back to bed. Good night." Allen said, closing the door.
"Allen." Lenalee said before the door closed.
Allen opened the door. "Yes?"
"You are a good father. Do not worry so much." Lenalee smiled softly.
Allen smiled. "Thank you."
Lenalee hugged him.
Allen hugged her back.
"I don't want to leave you tomorrow." Lenalee admitted.
"I know." Allen whispered.
"Maybe I can convince Komui to let me stay?" Lenalee said.
"No."
"Why not?" Lenalee asked. "What do you mean?"
"I want you to go back to Lavi and Kanda." Allen said. "The longer you are here, the more suspicious they will get."
Lenalee nodded. "Are you sure that you don't want them to know? It would help you a bit, they could come from missions and relieve you every now and again."
"No. I want to do this alone." Allen said.
Lenalee was not going to challenge her friend. "You will be an amazing Daddy."
"I want that more than anything." Allen smiled.
