At the bow of the Sunny stood a man. His hair was black and curly; he wore brown overalls over his sun-kissed skin; a red cape billowed out behind him; and his face was completely covered by a large, elaborate mask—except for the long nose that stuck out in the middle.
Not long after this man appeared in that spot, Luffy and Chopper came around to the bow.
They saw the man and their eyes lit up.
"Sogeking!" they cried excitedly.
The masked man—Sogeking—nodded. "Luffy-kun, Chopper-kun," he said in a deep voice. "You two look well. I'm glad to see you've recovered since we last met."
Their eyes shone. "What're you doing here?" Chopper exclaimed. "Do you have a hero mission?"
Sogeking was about to respond when Zoro came up to the bow, yawning. "What the hell is—" he paused and stared at Sogeking. "Oh, Us—Sogeking. Why . . . ?"
"I wished to visit this wonderful crew, Zoro-kun," Sogeking replied. At that moment, Nami and Robin came up. They had apparently been planning to sunbathe, but seeing the small crowd, they stopped and stared.
"What the hell are you doing?" Nami asked finally, directing the question at Sogeking.
"Nami-kun, Robin-kun," Sogeking said calmly. "It's good to see you."
Robin smiled. "Ah, Sogeking, it's good to see you too. How have you been?"
"Very well, Robin-kun," Sogeking said, nodding. Sanji, Brook, and Franky came up, sensing the slight commotion.
"What are you up to?" Sanji muttered.
"Hey, Bro Sogeking," Franky said, deciding to roll with it.
"Sanji-kun, Franky-kun," Sogeking said in greeting. "And . . ." he looked at Brook. "Usopp-kun tells me that you're Brook-kun?"
Brook stared at him, slightly confused. "Er . . . isn't that Uso—" he started to whisper, but Sanji elbowed him.
"Just go with it," he muttered. "His name's Sogeking right now."
Brook shrugged and surely would have given Sogeking a warm smile if he could have. They shook hands. "Pleased to meet you, Sogeking-san."
"The same to you, Brook-kun," Sogeking said formally.
"Sogeking, tell us about your adventures on Sniper Island!" Luffy exclaimed excitedly. Chopper nodded.
"Ah, very well!" Sogeking exclaimed. "Let's start with a song! Sogeki no shima de—"
"No, wait!" Chopper exclaimed. "Usopp needs to be here too!"
The others looked awkward at this.
"He's . . . probably busy right now," Sanji said after a moment.
"Huh?" Chopper said. "No, he's not! Look, he's coming up right now!"
And indeed, Usopp himself was coming up the stairs to the bow.
"Hey, Usopp!" Luffy exclaimed. "Look! Sogeking's here!"
Usopp stared at Sogeking. The rest of the crew, minus Luffy and Chopper, were looking back and forth between the two, utterly confused.
"What—" Usopp spluttered. "How—who—"
"I must go!" Sogeking exclaimed. "Sniper Island needs me!"
He leapt up to the railing, crouched, and jumped off the ship, flying away into the distance like a superhero.
"HE CAN FLY!" Chopper screamed in excitement.
"SO COOL!" Luffy yelled. "Guys, did you see that!?"
The others stared in shock and befuddlement as the figure flew off.
