Fallout 4, the Fallout games, the Elder Scrolls games, and any other series or franchise I may mention or reference do not belong to me.
"I have word of another settlement that needs our help. I'll mark it on your map."
Damn it, not another one. I was currently trying to explore the northern section of the map, and Preston kept bombarding me with quests that I wasn't going to do every time I stopped back at Sanctuary to drop off loot and scrap. I didn't even have the option of declining, either, unlike the Brotherhood quests. This time, I'd had enough. I saved, exited Fallout 4, and opened up Skyrim.
I was doing Companion quests when I saw it: A Redguard standing next to Breezehome, wearing a militia overcoat and hat from Fallout 4. He approached me and said,
"I have word of another settlement that needs our help. I'll mark it on your map."
This was getting weird, but my little brother could have installed a mod. I alt-tabbed and checked my mod list, but it wasn't thereā¦
Oh well, I'll just play another game.
I opened up Oblivion, where I was currently doing Fighter's Guild quests to save up for a really great piece of gear I saw in a shop. Suddenly, Preston:
"I have word of another settlement that needs our help. I'll mark it on your map."
This was getting weird. I fast-traveled to the Arena to do some battles instead, but Preston was there, forcing another quest on me. I quit Oblivion and opened Morrowind; if he was going to stalk me across games, at least I could kill him in this one. I opened up the game, loaded my character in Vivec, and-
"I have word of another settlement that needs our help. I'll mark it on your map."
Bam, shortsword to the face. It didn't do anything. He didn't even turn hostile, he just looked at me expectantly. Fine, I'll go do something else. I needed to check up on Reddit, anyways.
"I have something a little different for you, this time."
Must be a virus, because I wasn't even in a game that time. I took off my headphones, if only because I didn't need to listen to this crap.
"I'll mark it on your corpse."
There was Preston Garvey, standing right behind me, holding his Laser Musket and staring at me. I stood up, but he grabbed me and shoved his Musket into my face.
"This is what you get for ignoring settlements in need."
He pulled the trigger, and-
I woke with a start. Oh, thank god, it was just a dream. I needed to play less Fallout 4.
