~Orenji No Taiyou~ a Chiyu x Toshiya story

//We watched the setting sun that night...

You were so beautiful, Illuminated by the sun.

I thought things could never get more perfect, but I still hadn't told you how I felt...

But then it came out of my mouth, so quickly I didn't even realize I had said it.

You turned your head, a cute expression on your face as you asked what I had said, it had been too fast for you to hear.

"I love you," I repeated, over and over, until I was breathless, taken by your mere beauty.

You changed then, your eyes softened and you leaned closer, giving me the best kiss I'd ever had... because it was from you.

"I love you too," you whispered, making my heart race all over again.

Yes, I still recall it so well...the one night I had with you.

The one night that I was happy.

But the morning that followed was what killed me inside.

The sadness in our eyes rivaled each other as you said it again.

"I have a fiancee."

Those words that ripped me apart inside.

It wasn't your fault, I know.

It was your family...I know they only wanted you to marry her for money.

For their own profit...

I won't ever hold it against you, because I know you didn't mean to hurt me.

I know you were hurt the same I was, and I wanted to hold you and say it would be okay...

But it wouldn't.

And we both knew that as you said good bye, walking out the door for the last time.

But I can't take this pain anymore.

I'm leaving this world.

I can't bear to see you with her, to see how unhappy you are.

So...sayonara, my love.

Toshiya//

Chiyu sat on the floor, sobbing as he finished reading the letter from Toshiya in his shaking hands and looked on at Toshiya's pale face next to him. A small pool of blood had formed around Toshiya's body, no doubt from the knife wound in his chest. Chiyu traced his hand along Toshiya's cheek, a few of his tears falling on the cold skin. He pulled the knife from the man's hand that still gripped it, looking at his reflection that was partly blocked by the dried blood stain that remained there. Tears clouded his eyes as he brought the knife to his own wrist, cutting deeply once and breaking the vein in his wrist, tears silently falling as he laid himself down so he and Toshiya would be facing one another, with their lips almost touching...

...just as it had been that night.

Soon, Chiyu felt only numbness as he fell into unconsciousness, only uttering one thing before his spirit drifted into heaven to be with the one he really loved.

"I love you."
