"Jerome, can you pass me my textbook please" Mara said to Jerome
"Sure" he said as he handed her the book
"Thanks" she replied
He wondered whether she was generally didn't like him or whether she was just playing it cool. Probably the second one.
"Yay" Mara exclaimed in a very un-Mara like way
"What?" asked Jerome
"Mick has accepted my friend request on Facebook" said Mara
"Why do you care, the guy's in Australia!" said Jerome
"I care because he is my boyfriend, Jerome" said Mara
That statement pretty much crushed him
"Of course" Jerome thought to himself
3 hours later, in Jerome and Alfie's room
"Why does she like HIM, of all people" Jerome asked his best friend and roommate, Alfie
"Dude, you got it bad" said Alfie mockingly
"So how's it going with her highness, Amber" asked Jerome completely forgetting about his problems with Mara momentarily
"Well you know we are having a few problems" Alfie tried to cover up the truth
"She dumped you, didn't she" Jerome asked his friend outright
"Yes" Alfie said, embarrassed about the situation
"Hey, don't worry about it" Jerome said
The friends continued their conversation for a long while afterwards. That is until Mara came running upstairs crying
"Oh my God Mara, what happened" asked a very concerned Jerome
"Mick ch-ch-cheated on m-m-me" Mara stuttered
"Oh, forget about him, he is an idiot" Jerome said comfortingly, as he was hugging the distressed girl.
This was his chance
"Listen, Mara, how about you and me go out for dinner sometime, you know, to take your mind off him" Jerome asked Mara
"Yeah, sure, that would be good" Mara said as she walked out of his door
"YES!" Jerome said victoriously as he did his victory dance.
