The celebrations had finally come to an end. The many citizens of Death City walked back to their quiet houses to either continue with their own celebrations or to unwind and relax. However, one person was getting more nervous with every step that brought him closer to his shared apartment. His heavy footsteps traveled just steps behind a figure with ash blonde hair tied up into pigtails.

His blood red eyes traveled up her slim figure. Being paired with her for so long he had plenty of time to study every curve, every little sign of emotion that she portrayed with her body. He gave of a silent sigh and a small smile.

He could not tell you exactly when his feelings for her morphed from just friends to love. This feeling had snuck up on him and slowly enveloped him in the warm feeling. Although he was not very surprised by the sneak attack.

She has slowly worked her way into his heart and took control. He hated it whenever she was in danger, hurt, or when she had received invitations from other weapons...other MALE weapons. He hated how his love could swiftly turn to jealousy, worry, or fear the very instant something happened that could take his Maka away. He feared her leaving him and losing her. The same feeling he was having now...

They both had reached their individual goals, hers to create a better death scythe then her father, his to become the "coolest" death scythe to live. He had feared that now she might not need him anymore, she didn't plan for them to be together after the end. The thought alone made him sick.

And so he decided, he was going to confess his feelings for her tonight. He was going to tell her that he always wanted to be by her side, that he wanted her heart in exchange for his.

The silent walk back to the apartment drove him insane with trying to figure out how to express his feeling without sounding like a completely uncool fool. He sighed just a bit too loud than what he wanted too and soon enough two big emerald orbs were looking at him.

"What's wrong Soul?" She had stopped walking to turn around and face him, lacing her fingers behind her back and leaned forward slightly.

"Nothing's wrong, but I.." he took a deep breath and prepared himself for rejection. "Maka I don't want this to be the end of us... I want to stand by your side everyday and share every moment of my life with you."

His eyes locked with her own surprised ones, he searched for a reaction, for fear or disgust but he could not find one.

"Soul I.." Maka started but was swiftly cut off by Soul who wanted to make sure he was clear with what he wa saying.

"Maka Albarn, I am in love with you." Again he searched her eyes he even tried to sense a reaction from her soul.

Maka just closed her eyes for a moment and gave a smile."Soul, you idiot...I love you too" now it was his turned to be shocked. After a few moments of processing what Maka had just said he replied with a simple "Cool" as he took her hand and walked back to the apartment.
