Narcissa had never felt worse.
She was around the size of a boat, her stomach hurt like crazy, and she was constantly cold—no amount of blankets would warm her.
Somehow, her pain was worth it—at the end of it all, her and Lucius would have a little baby. A boy, they were told by the healer.
She already loved him more than she ever thought was possible to love someone.
Her and Lucius were sitting outside of the Malfoy Manor, gazing up at the stars. There was millions of them, stretching out against the black sky, like parmesan sprinkled onto a big pile of black spaghetti.
A light pile of snow had made its way onto the ground. Lucius and Narcissa had a circle of no snow, though, thanks to one of Lucius' spells. He had set up a quiet evening for them—one of their last nights alone, he had said.
Narcissa looked up to the sky, looking at the constellations and stars she had learned so many years ago.
There was her sisters, Bellatrix and Andromeda, close together, as if whatever power controlling the stars knew that Narcissa was looking up at them. She could see her cousins, Sirius and Regulus, off in the distance, miles between them. There was Orion, ready to go off into war.
She could also see Pollux and Castor, Leo, Scorpius, drilled into her brain even without family members named after them. She could see one certain constellation shining brighter than everything, and, as the child in her womb gave a vicious kick, she knew what she wanted to name her child. He should be named after a star or constellation, after all—he would be half Black.
As she turned into Lucius, welcoming his warm embrace as another shiver ran through her body, she placed her hand on her bulging stomach feeling her almost-born son.
Draco kicked once more.
