This is just what I thought might be going through Rhodey's head when Tony and Pepper landed on his roof towards the end of the movie. If the dialouge is not correct, (which I am rather certain is not) I aplogize.
Oh, god. What the hell are they doing? I guess I saw it coming. I've known Pepper's been in love with him since day one. I mean, c'mon? How can you not notice the way she looks at him, or how worried she is about him all the time? He's a big boy, Pepper; he can take care of himself. Although, she has a point... He is, well, a moron. It's amazing how someone that smart can be so damn stupid.
"That was… weird," said Tony, breaking away from Pepper.
"No, it wasn't," she replied and pulled him into another kiss.
Oh, god. They're doing it again. Pepper, Tony's right. It is a little weird. Especially because we're on a roof and Tony and I are wearing big metal suits that fly and shoot people. And we just killed a guy and watched a bunch of drones blow up.
I'm not sure I'm ok with this. Tony's my best friend and all, but he's going to hurt Pepper. He always does. He's a textbook narcissist and a self-sabotager. And an idiot. He hurt her badly enough before… this. Which, by the way, is still happening. Right in front of me. And I'm watching it. What is wrong with me?
I cleared my throat loudly enough from them to hear me.
"How long have you been there?" asked Tony. He looked a little surprised, but Pepper looked horrified.
"The whole time," I replied. Pepper's face was priceless. "You look like two seals fighting over a grape." Where the hell did that come from? "Hey, my car was down there, so I'm gonna need to borrow the suit to get home."
"Sure, I guess," Tony answered.
"Oh good, cuz I was taking it anyways," I said, then took off into the cold, dark sky above.
I guess I could live with them being together. What choice did I have? And hey, maybe this will be the one he doesn't screw up. A guy can hope, can't he?
