Notes: This is part of the Larsadie Ficlet a Week project, started by soggywarmpockets on Tumblr! You can find the other awesome entries by going to ficletaweekpc on Tumblr! Yaaaay! The prompt for this week was: "At the end of Joking Victim Sadie and Lars go off to get Lars cleaned up after the damage from the fire salt is contained. Write where they went and what they talked about." This can be taken as a continuation from my last fic, Video Game, but not necessarily.
"I'm sorry."
The words fell from Sadie's lips first. "I-that was wrong, Lars, and I'm sorry-I just got really angry when I found out you'd faked your injury to skip off of work. I feel like I do everything on my own sometimes, and I never tell the manager - partly because he's useless-"
"-I know, right?" Lars laughed. It was true. The manager of the Big Donut, Ryan Williams, didn't live in Beach City and was never in the donut shop. It was rather annoying to both of them; Sadie would go so far as to say that Ryan was worse than Lars was - by a long shot. "Sorry… you were saying?"
"I would tell Ryan but it's not like he'd help. Either he'd do nothing, or he'd fire you-"
"-And that wouldn't be better for you? You have Steven to take over-"
"-Ha! Steven can't help me run the shop. He's too busy doing all of that stuff with those Gem girls. Besides," she mumbled, "I like having you around."
"Well, I'm sorry, too," said Lars. "I shouldn't have lied to you."
Sadie nodded, but she still felt bad. She'd practically poisoned Lars, and over what? Hanging out with other girls. And other guys. Heck, Jenny Pizza was the only girl there.
"Are you okay?" Lars asked.
"Yeah… fine… um… I should probably get back to the shop…"
"Oh, forget the shop," Lars drawled. "Nobody's gonna be getting a donut after this mess. Want to come over and play Army of War? It's no fun playing without you."
"Need a P2?" Sadie asked half-irritatedly.
"Not just anyone," Lars said with an unusual sincerity. "Buck and Sour Cream have played with me, and they're not as good as you are. We work well as a team."
"Who are you and what have you done with the real Lars?" Sadie asked, still miffed.
"Come on," Lars said, and he took one of the hands limply flopped by her side. "We can jump on my trampoline after. And I have oyster crackers."
"Need me to close the shop?" Steven called, naturally eavesdropping on them.
"That'd be great, thanks," Sadie called, and she allowed Lars to lead her away.
Hey guys! Sorry for being late; I've been crazy busy!
This is my second entry for the Larsadie prompt challenge created by my dear friend soggywarmpockets; hoped you enjoyed! The next prompt is: "Write about the first time Lars and Sadie had to work together at the Big Donut after the events shown in Island Adventure."
Stay tuned to see it, and make sure to follow ficletaweekpc on Tumblr to see all of the other fics!
As always, love and ducks to the Lone Shippers, hugs to supporters, thanks to Eleonora, Noe, Hanul, and Kizzie, shoutouts to my chosen-sisters, rainbows to SWP and all of my fellow writers, and cookies for all!
