Warnings: Season 3 – Sam and Bobby trying to cope with the ultimate consequence of Dean's deal.
Bobby watched the only surviving Winchester with a terrible sense of déjà vu.
Sam refused outright to burn his brother's torn body, but eventually agreed to dig a shallow grave. The kid wouldn't let Bobby help, just grimly dug until his shirt was as soaked with sweat as his face was soaked with tears.
After two days, Sam had dried up like a desert. Tears and words had fled.
After a week, Bobby left him alone, like the boy wanted.
When he looked back, heart aching, grief raw, Sam was staring at his fingernails, still crusted with Dean's grave dirt.
