Left Us
Robin dodged a punch from one of the plant warriors. The Progons, a strange alien race, were attacking the city and like always, the teen titans were fulfilling their duty of keeping it safe.
Robin looked behind hin to see Starfire attack the leader of the invaders who resembled that of a tree under the huge water tower while the rest of the titans fought off the army of aliens. Starfire shot starbolt after starbolt, and yet her oponet did not back down.
"You are such a little nuisance," said the tree-like alien yelled, "that I shall finish you once and for all!" Tree roots stretched from his palms and wrapped around the legs of the water tower. He jerked his hands, pulled the roots toward him and with them the tower's legs.
The next few moments were a blur for Starfire. She saw the tower falling towards her; heard someone shout her name; and right when she was about to be crushed, she was pushed out of the way.
Starfire opened her eyes to see a monstrous heap of metal and water everywhere. It wasn't until she saw the cape peeking out from under the ruble did she fully realize what had happened.
Seeing what had happened, the titans assembled at the ruins. Using their powers the four were able to get the fallen pieces of metal off Robin quickly. There were cuts all over his body including a large gash on his head. His right arm and leg were in unnatural positions. Immediately, Raven started to heal his wounds but even her powers were not strong enough to have any effect on many of his injuries.
Beast Boy shook his unconscious friend. "Dude, you gotta be ok!"
Robin slowly opened his eyes. His moan of pain was received with looks of worries from the other titans. But being Robin he immediately resumed the same mindset he had in battle. "What are you doing fawning on me? Those things are attacking the city!" the boy wonder spoke as loud as he could, considering the circumstances.
"Robin's right," said Raven.
"No way are we leaving you here," replied Cyborg.
"I will stay here with Robin," Starfire volunteered.
When the others had left, Starfire turned to the young man who was still lying beside her.
"You shouldn't have risked your life like that to save me."
"You would have been killed."
"Perhaps, but now I am afraid that you will be…" Starfire started to cry.
"Star, really I'll be fine. A few cuts and bruises can't stop the boy wonder," he said weakly as he tried to smile. He had started to sit up, However, the action caused him to wince in pain.
This worried Starfire greatly. "I will fly you to the tower immediately," said the young Alien franticly.
"No," Robin said weakly, "I want to wait for the others."
She could see his pain increasing dramatically as she knelt beside her friend. Starfire had always trusted the leader's words. Now she was not sure if she should betray his commands. Against his will she held him in her arms and prepared to fly off. Alas, her emotions of worry and fear of what might happen made her powerless. Starfire returned him to where he had laid. Without any explanation Robin seemed to understand.
"Star," Robin reached out his hand to meet hers. "I want you to know that I've loved you since the day we met."
"So have I." A tear rolled down the her cheek.
Robin slowly closed his eyes and became still.
"Robin…Robin? Robin!"
Both joy and fierceness in her eyes left, never to return. Tears streamed down her cheeks as she called her fellow titans.
"Our dear friend has left us."
