She doesn't know why, but she finds herself going back for more.
Asami never had any intention of crawling back to the man who hurt her with his lying and neglect. Deep down, he knew better than to ask for more trouble in the form or Mako, who couldn't seem to make up his mind about who he wanted to be with. She knew he was no good, especially seeing him here, flirting with her after just breaking up with his last girlfriend.
It is wrong, and she knows better.
Still.
Here she is outside his apartment, a shaking hand raised to knock against the wooden door. It doesn't take long for the man behind it to welcome her in. He smells of smoke and danger and has 'Bad Decision' written all over him.
Still, she wants him.
Maybe she's cursed to want him forever.
Even after he broke her heart (in the kindest way possible, yet Asami still finds the hearbreak cruel), she is here offering him reprieve from his busy life and have dinner with her in a place where they made one of their first memories. More, she is handing him the key to explore a relationship with her again, in her subtle way.
It is pathetic, she understands that.
Next thing she knows, she is in his embrace and it feels like the old times and it brings the barbs around her aching heart to tighten at the nostalgia of it all. She has him now, but for how long? How long until his fickle fancy waves him back to Korra, or some other pretty girl all too willing to offer this dangerous boy her heart for the taking? How long until he decides that Asami is old news again?
She finds that she can't care at all, not really. Not when his familiar warmth is clouding her senses like a strom.
But then here come the police, seemingly decided that Mako was the bad guy, ready to take him away. But of course, not without fucking with Asami's head because that is just a sport men love, don't they? The cops reveal Mako's treachery, and for the second time in her life, Asami feels stupid for thinking she was safe with Mako. She really isn't, and is that not evident in how he managed to shatter her persistent trust in him?
AN: I hope Asami never goes back to that fucking turd Mako ever again. This was written on the day Book 2's fifth episode came out, but I just now found this in my Blackberry.
How are all you lovely people?
