Jackie's Gift
"I'm sorry sweetheart, I know your ear hurts." Jackie told Ryan soothingly.
The baby had come down with an ear infection making him uncharacteristically cranky.
At least Boone had made a 180 and was now a wonderful baby as long as Jackie's voice was playing on the CD, Barbara really was a life saver for giving them that idea.
Nick and Sloan walked through the door, Nick had to make a diaper run and for whatever reason Sloan insisted on going with him.
"What took you so long?" Jackie asked.
"We stopped at a garage sale on the way home." He answered.
"Mama, me got you a present." Sloan told her excitedly.
"You did?" She asked.
"Yeah." Sloan said happily as he handed Jackie a gaudy, huge green necklace.
"He insisted." Nick whispered to her.
"Thank you sweetheart, I love it." She told him as she gave him a hug.
"Put on?" Sloan asked.
"Let mommy go clean it and then I'll put it on ok?" She told him.
"Ok." He said happily.
Jackie grabbed a cup from the cupboard and then took the cup and the necklace up to the bathroom, she then dumped some rubbing alcohol into the cup and set the necklace in it.
After a few minutes she dried the necklace off and then put it on.
In all truth it was a hideous looking thing but her little boy was sweet enough to buy it for her so she was going to wear it.
"Petty." Sloan said overjoyed as Jackie walked down the stairs.
"Yes it's very pretty buddy, I love it. Thank you so much for buying it for me." Jackie told him with a big smile.
Nick and Jackie looked at each other and smiled, the thing really was ugly but Jackie loved it none the less!
