Charlie was out on a walk one night when she saw a light in the distance. She wandered closer to the fire and hears crying, it's Miles. He's sitting on a log fiddling with a box in his hands.
"Hey Miles," Charlie said. Miles jumped a little bit.
"Charlie, what are you doing out here?" He said
"I was just walking around and I heard you crying." They sat in an awkward silence for a moment.
"Miles, what's that in your hands?" Charlie asked. Miles tossed her the small box. She opened it and inside was a silver ring with a small diamond on it. "Miles…was this for-" Miles cut her off.
"Yea, it was for Nora. I've had it since we broke up the first time. I kept it cause I thought we'd have another chance…"
"Miles I'm so sorry…"
"I… I don't even have a picture of her. I didn't even get to say goodbye." He let out the tears he'd been holding back. Charlie just started at the ring.
"Miles."
"Charlie stop. I've known Nora since these stupid lights went out. Maybe if your mother hadn't fucked things up I never would've even met Nora. But since your mom was so fucking determined to turn on the lights that she turned off Nora is gone. Rachel couldn't have just take five minutes to open the door and get Nora help. Nora took care of you while your mom was off doing God knows what."
"Miles…"
"No Charlie. What am I going to tell Mia when she finds me and asks where Nora is? Hmmmm?"
"She won't find you."
"She's a bounty hunter, she'll find anyone. Should I just flat out tell her Nora's dead?" Miles paused. "Charlie she'll kill me, and Rachel, and probably you too. Nora basically raised Mia, she can't live without at least knowing that Nora is alive. She'll tear herself apart. I know her, believe me."
"Miles I think she'll be fine"
"We talked about having kids once. The night you were in the Militia training boat. I told her I would never want to bring a child into this horrible world. I shouldn't have said that. She looked so sad sitting there. Nora, she always wanted to be a mother. I know she was thinking about those kids she never had when she died."
"Miles, did you know about Frank?" Miles looked up and shook his head. "She got pregnant after she left you. She was five months pregnant and she lost the baby."
"How?"
"The militia."
"Of course. Ya know Charlie, she could've been pregnant so many times. We never used protection when we slept together. I remember watching her throw up numerous times in the morning. We never thought anything of it though. Then she'd get hurt fighting and probably lose the baby if there was one." Miles stared into the fire. "I see her sometimes and I see our kids sometimes. I hear her calling my name."
"Miles."
"Charlie you can go now. I'm fine"
"Miles are you sure?"
"I said I'm fine." Charlie stood up and handed the box back to Miles. She waled away and heard him start to cry again.

Miles stopped crying after a while and looked up at the stars.
"Hey Nora. I've never done this before, but I miss you. Life sucks without you. I wish we hadn't split the first time. We could've been married with kids by now. I know that's all you even wanted. I don't even have anything to remember you. I feel like you death is my fault in a way. Everyone here is telling me to get over it, but Charlie. They say we weren't even together, but we always were. We've always cared and loved each other even if we weren't sleeping together. Nora-" Miles tried to hold back tears. "-I really miss you." He started to sob and held his face in his hands.
He stood up and put the box back into his pocket. He turned and walked back to the village.
