All I Want

Summary: Havoc wants to get this year's gift-giving out of the way. But what people want might not be so easy to get…

A/N: Pretending that in the FMA world, Winter Solstice is essentially what Christmas is here.

"Hey—What does everyone want for Solstice this year? I'm buying your presents today, and if you don't tell me, I will buy something outrageously cheap and embarrassing."

Breda snorted. "Way to get into the spirit, Havoc."

Havoc shrugged. "Well, I will!"

Riza looked up from her paperwork. "I think what Breda's getting at is that you should give gifts for the joy of watching others receive them, Havoc."

"But I do enjoy watching people receive things like that! It's entertaining!" Havoc explained.

Everyone else let out a collective sigh.

"Seriously, though, what do you guys want?"

Fuery was the first to speak. "I want to be able to go see my family."

Falman nodded. "That'd be nice. While I like all of you, I don't get to see my family that often."

Breda spoke next. "I'd like a day where we all just get together and enjoy each other outside of work. We don't do that nearly enough."

All the attention now went to Riza. She thought for a moment, then said, "I want a day where all there is is peace. I don't care what form the peace comes in, and I'd happily deal with just having to do paperwork if it meant that I didn't have a headache at the end of the day."

The door opened, and Roy walked in. "But paperwork by its very nature is not a peaceful thing, Lieutenant. In fact, it's quite stressful. I think we'll have to somehow remove that part of your wish."

Everyone turned to look, but it was Havoc who asked (almost with a hint of dread), "Chief, what do you want for Christmas?"

"There's only one thing I want in life, Havoc, and it doesn't depend on a season or on it being supplied. You've already pledged your support. I can't ask for more than that."

Havoc sighed wearily. "Great. Two families, a calm party, a day of peace, and the Colonel's dream. Yeah. I can manage that."

"Well, what do you want, Havoc?" Breda asked.

"Well, I was going to say something that's actually possible, but now, just that your wishes to come true without me having to lift a finger," Havoc said miserably as everyone else hid smiles and choked back laughter.

"Thanks, Havoc. Glad to know we all mean so much to you." Roy smiled as he sat down and began his paperwork while everyone else resumed theirs.

It was quiet for a while, then Havoc piped up, "At least your wishes will come true. Part of mine won't." Everyone looked at him, and he said hastily, "But, for the sorts of wishes you guys have, I guess that's okay."

Havoc went back to doing his paperwork, unaware that what he had just said would make his friends smile for the rest of the day.

A/N: This was inspired by "Grown-Up Christmas List", which has been done and redone by quite a few artists over the years.

A very Merry Christmas to those who celebrate it! If you celebrate a different holiday, I hope it is/was the best!
