Hello, fellow Get Backers fans! This is Fan Girl speaking! X3 This is going to be a series of one-shots. They're unrelated to each other, other than they are all form of the characters dying! Yay, angst!!
Also, I will be writing this with KantanaAmaya. So, it will randomly switch between the two of us writing. This one was, obviously, written by me. =)
Also, this one isn't that great, in my opinion. So, you know, please just kinda hold fast for more to come if you're ish disappointed by this one. Please?
I. Death by Gunshot
"Please, please, please Ban-chan? Just ONE story! You always tell the best stories and it's going to be such a long car ride up there if we're being so quiet!!"
"Tch. Fine. But this is it. For the whole ride up there, this is the only one. Got it?"
"Yessss!"
"Okay, fine..."
"…?"
"There was a tale someone once told me, a long time off from now, that I think I'll never forget. He made it seem so real, he'd put even the best storyteller to shame."
"Can you tell it, Ban-chan?"
"Of course I can, stupid. But it just won't be as good as the way the old man told it to me."
"That's fine!! Com'on Ban-chan! Let's hear it!!"
Ginji was just like a little kid at Christmas with a new toy. This had always baffled Ban. Never once has the Jagan-user told a happy story. Most had to do with the past, or were legends. But this one…
Maybe it wasn't such a good idea to tell Ginji…
But it'd get him to shut up for a little while…
…
Oh heck, why not?
(That, and, even though Ban would never admit it, the awe-stuck face mixed with a smile on Ginji made him smile a little.)
And so, he began after clearing his throat.
First, he described the setting. Ginji found himself closing his eyes and picturing the dark sky, and the jagged, over-hanging cliffs. There was one narrow road that wound around said cliffs, and it also looked over the ocean. It was like a death-trap you see on movies, where the people speed around corners and fall off cliffs…
Luckily, Ban was a better driver than that, even if he was going twenty miles over the speed limit.
Ban continued to drive while telling the story, going up the narrow road up the mountain towards the place for their next job. Little did either of the boys in the car know, an eye and a scope followed them, waiting for the right moment.
The moment…
Now.
The windshield suddenly shattered and the car screeched to a halt. The only sounds were Ginji's panting breath and the motor purring.
Ginji shifted uncomfortably in shock, and he felt something warm and sticky covering his arm. He looked down to see shards of glass cutting into his skin, and he grimaced. He carefully scanned around before calling to his partner.
"Nnn…B-Ban-chan?"
There was no reply.
Ginji quickly looked over his partner, only to find a hole, about the size of a sniper bullet, in his chest.
Right where his heart was.
"BAN, NO!" Ginji shook him in a futile attempt to revive him, though already knowing he was already dead. Tears streamed down his face as he trembled at the sight of his dead partner.
A twig snapped behind him.
How did this happen…?
"And then suddenly, the two in the car knew it was over. They knew that this was the end."
Ban's story rang throughout his head as the blonde turned to face the passenger side window.
"The girl in the passenger side seat turned, tears streaming down her face to look out the window, ever so slowly."
Ginji found himself staring down the barrel of a gun. His breath hitched in his throat.
"And before they could even do anything…"
Bang!
"They were already de—"
