She was an innocent girl, so sweet and kindhearted. She was mindful of her surroundings, respectful to her elders and always playing around even when the adults were not looking. Even though she was intelligent, she did not display acts of arrogance, even when she knew the answer to the most complicated math problem a high school student would have a terrible struggle with – both the answer and the solution.

Since when did that change?

That, the mother assumed, was only natural. Babies grow; children grow; teenagers grow. Even adults grow. The seniority is only the end of life, the end to growth.

She abandoned her childishness, her foolishness, her innocence, her obedience. Swore in class. Caused an angry riot in the city. Refused to listen to her mother. Sneaked out of house at night. Made out with her mother's former love interest. Came close to losing her virginity.

And then.

The murders of the Harrison family splattered the headlines. Every single member of the influential family was, the investigation deduced, violently ripped to pieces, lost virtually all of their blood, even eaten. The babies and the seniors were not immune to such tragedy; unborn babies were swiped from the pregnant mothers' wombs and then disappeared. The rest, the healthy and able, burned alive. Everyone talked. Everyone wondered. Who was responsible?

She was suspected. She was searched. She confessed. Spent a year in prison and escaped after an hour here. There was a frantic search for her. The influential families went into hiding out of fear for their safety. Those who didn't became more cautious than before. No news of her. Never seen again.

But now...

"It's over, mother."

The mother nearly shielded her eyes from the sight of her once precious daughter.

"No, it's not. Come home with me, with us. Everything will be alright again—"

There was sharp, cold laughter. "And get caught again like I almost did today? I'm not leaving this new life; it's so much more fun. Besides," she added, "I'm old enough now, at least biologically. Today's my 18th birthday, which means that I'm an adult and free to do as I wish."

"Please come back to us," the mother pleaded, ignoring the noises that invaded her hearing and her daughter's words. "I do love you with all of my life... Renesmee."

Then she collapsed.

"All?" Renesmee repeated. "You gave up your life when you devoted your entire existence to that good-for-nothing Edward."

She departed the scene for the coven to later discover.
