For The First Time

I know that I love her and she's the one

I can see it, hear it, reach it

Her heart is kind, filled with love deep and soft

I listen for it, hear it beating

How did I know when it began?

Was it true?

It started one faithful day, one that I certainly didn't plan

Bright sky's, clear and blue

Clouds white and puffy, all too askew

Late that day I came to work, hair pushed back no shoes and shirt

People laughed pointed and cried:

"Look, he didn't even zip his fly!"

I chuckled, bitter sweet

I came late, half naked, no dignity and bare feet

I laughed along being a sport

It didn't hurt

Soon laughter died down and all went soft

I walked on, head down and lost in thought

I didn't see or look around

It was too late when I looked up as I was already on the ground

There was a snort, an "are you ok?", indeed this was my first day

People laughed at my expense and yet who would say

Staring up I met dark eyes, wide and pure

I froze, heart thumping

Outstretched hand and kind smile

I was shaken, pulled to my feet and cleaned off

Kindness, for me?

It had been quite awhile

I dared to venture another look in her eye

She grinned, laughed and said with a sigh

"Jerks I know, right. They think it's funny, think it's okay. One day well show 'em, you and me, we'll take 'em"

I nodded, afraid to speak yet not wishing to say goodbye

She gave me another smile

I attempted, "H-hi"

She laughed, crocked and bright

I smiled back, now almost excited for the "fight"

"Your working here now?"

I shook my head no, but knew it was a lie

I mustered up the courage and finally managed a try, "Yeah. I'm FBI."

"FBI? Hm," she'd said.

"You got a gun, we could shoot those idiots dead!"

I started, mouth a gap, "What?!" I gasped, what'd she say

"I'm joking, you know," Another smile "Don't worry, my friend."

I sighed, "Why? How stupid of me."

She giggled and replied,"Those idiots will go, but not by me."

Wait, is she crazy?

"It's too big a job, too much a mess."

I gaped again

"By the way what's your name? I'm Emily Prentiss"
