I thought I'd do a one-shot, I've been thinking about it for awhile now... I don't know if I should continue one-shots or write a whole VaughnXChelsea story. R&R

Don't own anythin' :)

Chelsea's POV

The bells above the doorway clanged as I entered the animal shop. I skidded to a stop in front of the counter and looked up at my best friend, Julia.

"Guess what?" I hopped up and down excitedly, like a little kid. Julia put her hands on her hips and raised an eyebrow, waiting for me to explain.

"Well I finally have a chicken coop and I came here to buy my first chicken!" I got out all in one breath. Julia's expression fell quickly, settling into a deep frown.

"Oh..." she sighed, "Well you'd have get my cousin to help you with that." She glanced over at the figure hunched over in the corner, trying to pass as unnoticed. Julia approached the person, currently engrossed in a book, and motioned for me to come over.

"Chelsea, this... is Vaughn," she announced. I walked over and sat beside Vaughn. He had silver, shoulder-length hair and a whole cowboy outfit, including a cowboy hat that was pulled so far down over his head that I couldn't see his eyes. I stuck my hand out in a friendly gesture.

"Hiya! I'm Chelsea!" I grinned. Not a single muscle twitched on that man's body to shake my hand, much less look at me. I huffed and blew air out from my puffed up cheeks, making random chestnut strands fly everywhere. I stood up, walked around, and bent down in front of him. He finally looked up, glaring.

"What?" he asked in a threatening tone. I looked at what I was staring at for a few more seconds, memorizing it in my head, before I stood up again and dusted myself off.

"Oh nothing," I replied in a sing-song voice before I leapt out the door, "I'll buy that chicken another time. Okay, Julia?"

The following day, I saw a familiar blob sitting up on a hill, shaded by a tree. That blob had a cowboy hat. I smiled and jogged up the hill. As I sat down beside him in the plush, cool grass, he failed to acknowledge my existence yet again. I pulled out the item I had purchased instead of a chicken yesterday. A book. The same book Vaughn was reading right now. He looked over and recognized the book with surprise. Less than a millisecond later, Vaughn's face was as taught and emotionless as it was before.

"Leave. Now," he commanded. I just gave him a lop-sided smile.

"No."

Vaughn sighed grumpily. In no way was he going to give up his spot to me just because I was annoying him.

"Suit yourself," he mumbled. Inside, I cheered for victory. We continued to read in silence up on the hill, I gazed up in surprise when I noticed the sun was already setting, different shades of brilliant reds and purples streaming the sky.

Julia's POV

I walked along the path, wondering why Vaughn hadn't come in for lunch or dinner today. After strolling for a few more minutes, kicking up the dust beneath my feet, I spotted him. I stared, astonished at the scene before me. Chelsea and Vaughn were leaning against the popular tree up on the local hill. Chelsea's eyes were closed and her mop of chestnut hair was leaning against Vaughn's shoulder. A book rested in her lap. Vaughn's hat had fallen off, lying astray on the ground next to them. His eyes were partially open, trying to continue reading a book in his lap that was a replica of Chelsea's. He made no move or action to shove Chelsea off of him. I watched in awe as he finally caved, his violette eyes shutting completely as he slumped against Chelsea, his head resting against hers. I smiled, pivoted on my heel, and walked back to the shop.

Maybe you're not such a bad guy after all, Vaughn.
