Prologue
Grey ears flick at the sound of chirping birds that gradually becoming louder and more definite as he awoke. He wished to remain unconscious for the pain that greeted him was far from pleasant. The wounded being uttered a groan behind the mask he wore. The intense pain spread from the center of his chest. It was near fruitless to move, the attempts and struggle was too much, but giving up was not in his nature. With trembling limbs, he managed to sit up. The mane on his skull weighed a ton from his perspective, it almost dragged him down. Weak, that's what he been reduced to, just like his former self. Infinite no longer, but back to that weak pathetic jackal!
Eyes turned to observe the damage done on his body. The ruby, gone, as he suspected. The jackal was about to let out a cry of fury but ceased when he realized something. A tiny red gem glimmer in the center of the wound. A fragment! The phantom ruby wasn't entirely gone, the very core is fused to his body. Meaning, it was a part of him, but sadly broken.
Despite in pain, touched the small ruby with gentle hands. It burned agonizing, but the Jackal was too ecstatic to break the contact. The energy swirled, it still had power. Much weaker than before, but power nonetheless.
A wicked smirk spreads on his muzzle. He raise his right hand in attempt to use that power. The fragment glow and soon a single red pixel appears in view. It hovers in the air awaiting a command for its owner to make. The jackal frown at its weakened state but put it to test. The pixel response and mold into a spear, similar appearance to those Shadow insists to throw around. He clenches his outstretched hand and the spear pierce the ground. Deadly and fast, a normal mobian or human for that matter won't stand a chance against this weakened power. Sonic however will wipe the floor with him.
Infinite lower the hand to the ground. Just now taking notice of his surroundings. He is in Emerald hill, too green to be anywhere else. That also explained the lively birds in the trees. A wicked smirk widened behind the mask. Hand rise, spear react. Several of screeches breaks out, the victims' thumps down to the ground, in the end, only silence remains.
"Better." Blood now splattered across the grass, not even one managed to escape his power. The spear shatter into pieces, no longer needed.
Of course, this weakened state didn't satisfy the jackal. He needed to recover the phantom ruby, but how? Couple of ideas crossed his mind. Finding the doctor was one of them, but that's not exactly the easiest choice. Beside the human abandoned him, which meant he couldn't be trusted. But what else could he do?
His question was answered when he was suddenly overshadowed by something. Infinite turn his eyes to the sky, a floating island.
"Master Emerald." The jackal muttered upon spotting the Angel island. Its common knowledge but mostly known for its emerald that allows the island to hover in the air. Chaos energy, that was the answer. However, a guardian protects the mighty gem. The risk of defeat was something Infinite didn't want to take. But there are always the chaos emeralds!
The jackal gets up on his feet by newfound determination. The yellow eye glow brighter of vengeance.
"I will regain my power, this time stronger than ever. Just you wait Sonic, the world will suffer, and this time not even you can save it!"
Author Note: This is a short prologue because I want to know if people are interested in this story. I like to write but school and other things kept me from doing so.After playing Sonic forces, I just felt like I had to write a fanfic about him. English is far from my main language and third POV is new too. But apart from that, is it worth a continue?
