Bonjour! This is my first attempt at anything Castle related - I hope you enjoy! Sorry it's so short!
Kate had never thought much about weddings.
She had been to a few, of course, over the years. She had even been a part of some of them, as a bridesmaid, or a flower girl when she was young. But she had never really thought about how much they meant.
That was, until it was her wedding being put in the spotlight.
Now, she was contemplating exactly what the wedding did mean, for her, and for him. They already had each other, both physically, and emotionally, and she wouldn't be taking his last name, so this wasn't a time for that, either.
Her family was dead, so there was no gathering or exchange to be happening. She wouldn't even be having anyone walk her down the aisle, or giving her away: she was independent; she didn't need someone to do that for her.
So Kate wasn't sure what this was supposed to mean.
What she did know, though, was that it was something huge.
She smoothed down her pale cream dress as she heard the music start to play, and looked in the mirror one last time, ensuring that she appeared perfect, although she knew Castle wouldn't care. He thought she looked beautiful all the time, regardless of what she was wearing. None the less, she wanted the day to be amazing, and looking good was part of that.
She stepped from the dressing room out into the foyer, and through the doors of the auditorium of the church where she would be wed, being careful not to step on the hem of her dress.
Her mind didn't really register the presence of her soon to be husband at first, which was ironic in its own way. When it did, though, she forgot that anyone else was there. It was just her, and him, and the lovely cocoon of strength and pride and happiness surrounding them, in this moment. They had worked so hard to get here, and now here, they finally were.
As Kate took the final steps up to the alter, she realized, as Lanie smiled at her from her left, the boys from her right, and with the rest of the gathering behind her, what this ceremony really was about.
This, this day, this moment, everything they had put into it, and everything they would put into it;
It was all about love.
Absoloutly cheesy ending, I'm sorry, but it's late and I just wanted to write!
Please Review!
