Arrow Strike True

There he is again, practicing his archery. That boy never quits. He is so young, an yet he has so much determination. I wish I would have had that much determination when I was his age….ummm maybe even that much now. I better make sure he is not pushing himself too hard. He is after all a kid.

"Hey Rolf!" I say as I run toward him. "Why are you out here all by yourself?" He was surprised to see me and his face blushed a little. "Oh Marcia it's you. I was just practicing."

"I've noticed. Rolf you are always practicing. When do you give yourself time to have fun?" He looked confused at my question. "Marcia, we're in a war. I don't think I should relax or have fun when one mistake could end my life. I want to be the best I can and protect people. Not to be rude, but you should take this more seriously like I do instead of goofing off all the time."

I couldn't believe what he just said. I over reacted a little. "How dare you you little brat! I ought a knock you upside the noggin!" He started to run away. "Don't hurt me Marcia. I was just kidding."

"Come back here you little runt!" I finally caught up to him and tackled him to the ground. We went rolling down a hill and when I got up I couldn't walk straight, I was so dizzy. Rolf was laughing at me. I couldn't help but laugh to. We were both laughing so hard we fell to the ground.

"See Rolf, this is what I mean. That was fun, even though it was at my expense, it was still funny." Rolf smiled at me with the biggest grin I have ever seen. "You know you are right, but I am right to. How about you promise to train with me every day and I will take time to have fun with you too." I smile back. "Of course, but only if we start with having fun the rest of the day today." "Okay Marcia." He starts to run off. "Catch me if you can!" I couldn't help but be filled with happiness watching Rolf run around so happy and innocent. He has so much ahead of him. I only hope he will make the best of it.
