Almost a year after the battle against BelialVandemon, during the last week before summer vacation.
The digidestined group was together in the computer room, even if there was no real reason for them to be there. Although the problems in the Digital World were solved and, at least for now, that place was in peace, the bounds formed during their adventures would still make them gather daily.

"It's almost summer vacation, we should do something together!" An overjoyed Miyako suggested.
"How about go camping? We couldn't enjoy even a bit last time." Hikari said, waiting for the others opinion.
"That was an excuse, so it doesn't really count." Iori replied.
"So we can use this chance to go there and play to our hearts content!" After Daisuke's short speech, everyone agreed on doing it.
"Someone should tell Ken about it too."
"Leave it to me!" The short haired girl said, with the D-terminal already in her hands.

It was the first time Ken went camping. No, maybe it was better to say that it was his first time traveling with friends.
It was fun, but as someone who wasn't used to it yet, the boy felt the need to have some quiet time and decided to walk in the woods by himself to get his energy back, while Wormmon and the others were playing around in the lake.

"Would you mind if I accompany you?" The voice of a girl came from behind.
"No, it's okay."

After making sure she wasn't disturbing the boy, Hikari hurried to walk by his side.
They walked aimlessly silent for some time, until the sun started to set.

Trying to look for the way back, Ken shivered and finally spoke:
"We have a problem. I think we're lost."
Looking at her surroundings for a moment, Hikari confirmed his fears.
"We probably are, I can't remember this place…"
That was it.
They were lost in some unknown part of the woods, while the sun was disappearing of their sight letting not but darkness behind.
"Do you perhaps brought a flashlight…?"
The girl, searching the small bag she had with her, denied. "Sorry, didn't think this could happen so I didn't bring one."
"It's not your fault. I wasn't paying attention either." Softly facepalming himself, Ken squinted his eyes, trying to adjust to the lack of light.

The girl by his side noticed Ken shivering and remembered.
Even after a year, he was still afraid of the dark.
Determined to help somehow, Hikari looked for his hand and grasped it firmly.

"Hikari-sa—"
"It'll be okay, we will find the way back together. For now, let's hold hands so that we don't lose each other."
"Okay…"
"If we don't go back quickly, Daisuke-kun and the others will get worried and will look for us too, so there's nothing to fear!"
"You are right. Sorry for the trouble."
brIn an instant, he managed to get a hold of himself. Thinking now, that fear was rather ilogical; that wasn't the Digital World or that weird sea. There wasn't anything there that could cause any real harm, plus he wasn't alone.

Even in a situation like this, I can stay calm. It's all thanks to her. Your name really suits you, Hikari.

They both decided to turn around and walk straight. Like this, they hoped to find someone at some point or, even better, maybe the way back to the camp.
Tripping on tree roots, falling to the ground sometimes, Ken and Hikari wouldn't let go of each other. They just had each other at the moment, and it didn't look like a problem at all.
To not let their motivation down, they made sure to engage in a lively conversation, that lasted what was probably hours.

Until they heard something.
Hikari was the first to notice it.

"I can hear Daisuke-kun's voice! They've come for us!"

"Is everything okay?"
"Can I ask you one more thing?"
"Yes?"
"Don't let go of my hand."

Your name really suits you, Hikari. You are trully a "light".
My light.
