I sort of see this as a continuation of Tease, but it's not necessary to have read that.
Please Don't Leave Me
Nikola slipped quietly from Helen's bed, careful not to wake her.
"Don't go, Nikola," her voice interrupted his thoughts, her hand now wrapped around his wrist.
"Please, Helen," he whispered, sitting back on the bed. "Let us not pretend this was more than what it was."
Helen's hand slipped from his wrist and hit the bed with a soft thud. She stared at his back as he picked his things up off the floor.
"What the bloody hell is that supposed to mean?" She hissed at him.
"Please Helen," he said again. "We both know…"
"Know what, Nikola? That this was just a meaningless shag?"
"Yes!" he shouted, turning to her. "Yes, that's exactly what it was!"
Helen stared at him is disbelief. How could he, of all people, say that? She looked him in the eyes and knew, knew he was lying.
"No, it wasn't," she shook her head.
"Don't do this, Helen," he shook his head, unable to look at her. "Please."
"No," Helen said, sitting up. "You said once that you loved me. Was that a lie?"
"Helen-" he began.
"Was it a lie?" she asked again.
"No!" he shouted back at her. "No, of course it wasn't. I love you."
"And yet this was meaningless?" she questioned.
"Not to me," he said. "But to you…"
"Don't you dare try to tell me what I feel."
"Oh please," he spat. "I know what you think of me. I am merely the conduit by which you fill a void left by the man you really love."
"Nikola," she tried as he stood to leave.
"Don't, Helen," he said, walking for the door. "Do not pretend I am wrong."
"You are wrong!" she exclaimed, sliding from the bed. "You're wrong," she said again, standing before him. "I love you," she said.
