A random poem that I initially thought up in my Poetry Writing class. After fiddling with it, it's developed into the poem you see here. It's in freeverse, but there is a bit of a pattern to it. Enjoy. :)

In one time the last person
expected to find it found the
baton, an ordinary baton of blue,
nothing special at all about it.

The years passed.
The baton was passed.

The younger brother carried it
all, the hopes and dreams of his
family riding on him, carrying
the memento of a long-lost time.

The years passed.
The baton was passed.

Handed to a friend, once thought
to be an enemy, but turned out not
to be so, promising to fight for
all of those that he believes in.

The years passed.
The baton was passed.

A group of four, unknowing of the
past but looking forward to the
future, dusted it off and refused
to break it beyond their hopes.

The years passed.
The baton was passed.

Dug up by a hunter, unknowingly
carrying it, he remains unaware
of the legacy that was unwittingly
handed over to him years ago.

The years passed.
The baton was passed.

In another time, a pair of twins
swapped the baton back and forth,
racing yet helping each other at
the same time, happy as puppies.

The years passed.
The baton was passed.

One not of this world befriended
one of, searching for the father
that showed it to them, doing their
best to keep a firm yet gentle grip.

Will the years pass?
Will the baton be passed?

So, how was it? :) In case you are not aware of which series the stanzas are talking about, they go in this order: Classic, X, Zero, ZX, DASH / Legends, EXE / BN, Ryuusei / Star Force.
