The Girl Made of Glass

A young girl stands silently still

Looking out at the world through her deep brown eyes

Listening to the words that pierced her soul

As if it were made of glass

The young girl watches her friends move away

She watches her love leave her with dismay

She listens to what her heart has to say

Her heart had been shattered

As if it were made of glass

The young girl continues to watch her past dissolve

Her emotions have not yet been resolved

Her sensitivity continued to chip away at her very soul

As if it were made of glass

The young girl steps along the path of her life

Looking over the numerous mistakes she has made

Those dreadful mistakes that she will never forget

Will never seem to go away

Over the years of despair and pain

Nothing left of her remains

Not her heart, nor soul, nor deep brown eyes

Not even her spirit survives

Her spirit has been broken, smashed, destroyed, cracked

As if it were made of glass.
