Cure to Hiccups
Sam's POV
I closed my locker lazily, jumping as my throat gave way to another hiccup once again. I had had the hiccups since I got up this morning and they were driving me crazy! It was nearly lunch time and I couldn't stand the constant hiccupping, jumping in my seat when I'd go off, and the many, many giggles I got from other students. Tucker and Danny even found it humorous.
"Why can't I get rid of these damn hiccups?" I said to myself angrily, my words dripping with acid.
Danny leaned against the locker next to mine, Tucker standing close by him. Danny ruffled his dark hair, his baby blue eyes shimmering. "Have you tried everything to get rid of those hiccups?"
I nodded. "Deep breathing - hiccup - drinking water, swallowing - hiccup - a lot, I even tried the old - hiccup - ice-on-the-throat trick and it - hiccup - didn't work." I kicked the lockers roughly, earning many stares from passing students as the loud clang echoed through the hallway. Despite the fact that it was very loud in the hallway, the noise of my kick sounded all the way to the end of the hall and back.
I rested my forehead on my locker door, beating my head slightly against its surface. I tried to think of other possible solutions to cure my insane hiccups, which were still going nonstop. "How am I supposed - hiccup - to go through the - hiccup - rest of the day with these - hiccup - fudging hiccups?"
I heard Tucker laugh, making me cringe with anger. I glanced at him from the corner of my eye, only to see him tapping his fingers to his chin. "Well, have you tried scaring them away?"
I stood up straight, looked him in the eye, and gave him my best are-you-fudging-serious face. "I don't get - hiccup - scared, Tuck, you know that. Nothing - hiccup - could, can, and will never scare me. If you - hiccup - can surprise me with something - hiccup - unexpected, then that would - hiccup - maybe work out, but - hiccup - but I doubt either of-"
I was interrupted by a pair of lips resting on mine. I gasped in shock to find out it was Danny, kissing me in the hallway. When he pulled away, my face was beat red. As was his, but he laughed and shook of the tension.
"Did that help?" He asked.
I stood completely still, blushing erratically, but didn't answer him. After a few moments, I realized I wasn't hiccupping any more. Moreover, the hallway had gone deathly quiet and everyone stared at me and Danny.
I nodded, smiling. "Wow, that worked."
Tucker laughed, but looked from me to Danny as we stared at each other lovingly. "Aw man, you two aren't going to get all lovey-dovey now, are you?"
Danny and I laughed. I felt Danny take his hand in mine, smiling at me still. "Maybe." He replied.
Tucker groaned. "Great, now I'm gonna' be the third wheel."
I began to walk away with Danny. "Now you're not." We walked down the hall, hand in hand, with many stares from the other students and teachers watching us.
