~ Ill-Fated Love ~

By Kthrto

A/N- This is my first real fanfic, though I am not a new addition to FF.net. I came to read, and now I'm writing. It's really and irresistible thing, to make something of your own for the world to see.

Warnings- I am a Zelda/Marth freak. I do NOT like Link. Though as of yet there is no real Link bashing. Roy is all right but in this particular story he ends up bad. I don't have anything against Roy, that's just how it played out in my head.

Pairings- Zelda/Marth

Rating- PG-13 as of now

When she stepped out into the bright sunlight from the darkness of the movie theater, Zelda contemplated the film that she had just viewed. A modern day version of Romeo & Juliet, the film had had a strange effect on her. Zelda felt like it was a film that she belonged in. In this context, it made her think about her relationship with Link. Link had always been sweet to her, and had never pressured her for anything. At first he had fought for her because of her title, and then because of his love for her. It was very romantic, to say the least, but to Zelda it felt like the relationship had no future. She knew that deep down inside of her heart, but somehow she just couldn't bring herself to end it. She knew that Link was hopelessly devoted to her, and that he would do anything for her. This weakened any resolve she had to end the doomed relationship. Besides she countered inside her head, we have so much history. "The truth is" she thought to herself, "I'm afraid that he loves me too much. That he won't believe me or that he'll think that it's his fault." The last thing she wanted was for him to end up desolate and alone, but she knew, deep in her heart, that both of them would end up that way eventually, unless she did what she had to do and ended it. "That's it then." She said to herself, "When we get home I'm going to do it." "Zelda?" said Marth. As she looked up she realized that while she was lost in thought, Link and Roy had left her behind, but Marth had stayed with her. "I didn't think you looked like you wanted to be interrupted," stated Marth, "so I told them to go on ahead and that I would take you home. They wanted to go play video games or something." He smiled. She blushed. In her mind, things were getting clearer. She realized that once Link had won her over he had given up all but menial interest in her everyday life, and that she felt lonely and neglected. She also realized that she HATED that darned cap. Marth was considerate, kind, and also well mannered. He always inquired into how she felt. "He must feel so lonely," she thought as he walked with her back to the boarding house where all the Smash Bros. stayed, "His best friend has more in common with Link than with him, and he doesn't know anyone else. I must try to make him feel more at home." Little did Zelda realize her true meaning, and the trouble that she was getting herself and the one she loved into.

A/N- No she doesn't mean Link. She means Marth, and no she doesn't realize she loves him yet.

A review (or flame) will get another chapter out of me, I just want to know someone read it.

Oh, and the beginning of the first sentence was plucked out of "The Outsiders," by S. E. Hinton
