Prologue
Life is Loss. We are born with a finite amount of time to make our mark on the world, and if we are not brilliant, not a shining star, we live on in the hearts and minds of our loved ones, but what if something happens and you are left all alone? Do the choices that you have made, what you achieve, matter?
My home was destroyed, by someone else's choices, I should have died but I didn't.
In my heart and soul I know that I should have died with them, but in my mind I acknowledge it for what it is, survivor's guilt. They will live on for as long as I do.
Very few will know what it is to carry the weight of the world on their shoulders. For me that weight is conspicuous by its absence.
My burden is in my soul, and its weight is tearing me apart.
My world may be forgotten but it is my legacy to continue.
