I'm studying the phenomenon that is the Mary Sue, and how a perfectly fine character morphs into them.

The attack of the Mary Sue
It was a new school year at Hogwarts and a transfer student walked into the hall nervous about changing schools. She walked up to the sorting hat and sits down. Then she realizes she's sitting on the sorting hat. She promptly gets up and apologizes as McGonagall (I don't know how to spell her name) Removes the hat. As she sits back down she thinks about her family. They were so excited that she was going to Hogwarts, especially Auntie Em-.
"Get on with it!" Is heard in the background as the author is scolded for taking so long.
The hat was placed on her head and promptly shouted out 'Gryffindor!' She smiled and blushed as the table clapped and cheered. She sat down next to a bespectacled boy with messy black hair and a scar on his forehead.
"Hi my names Harry Potter, what's yours?" The boy asked.
"Gianna Weston, but you can call me Gigi." She said with a smile. "You know, I have a feeling we're going to be good friends." As she said this ominous music could be heard in the background. She looked around, slightly confused. "Hey did you guys hear that?" She asked the people sitting around her.
"The ominous music? Yeah, it means something bad is going to happen soon." Some irrelevant person said, not looking at all worried. "It happens so often nowadays we just ignore it."
"But shouldn't we tell someone about it?-" Gigi asked.
"Nah," The person answered.
"Hey wanna go walking around the dark forest later? I mean we could get killed but why not!" Another irrelevant and soon to be dead person asked the first irrelevant person.
"Yeah and lets wait till after dark too!" They answered.
"That's a great idea!"
Gigi stared in confusion at the people who were acting like those morons in the horror movies that you're surprised don't die in the first scene. She shook her head and tried to focus on her meal. She had a feeling this school year was just going to get weirder and weirder.
