Author's Note: Thomas Wolfe (amongst others) arrived at the sad revelation that "You can't go home again". Our actions and experiences change
us. This is just a little poem I came up with to illustrate that point in the wonderful world of Buffy (post-season 6).

Disclaimers: Needless to say, I am neither Thomas Wolfe nor any member of the M.E. gang, so I own none of the characters and use the title for creative purposes.

CAN'T GO HOME AGAIN

They must grow up, these children.
They've been left on their own.
Now it is you who have to
Make your way in this world alone.
You can't go home again,
Rupert.

Once kept from the horror,
An innocent in this world,
You fought evil, fear, and suffering.
Now you're not a little girl.
You can't go home again,
Dawn.

A pillar of inner strength,
Made fragile with her last breath.
The world came crashing down
When you put that man to death.
You can't go home again,
Willow.

The fabric holding all together,
True loyalty never faltered.
But her heart was shattered
When you left her at the altar.
You can't go home again,
Xander.

Rage burned hot like flames within.
Would that he could be hexed.
But was vengeance so sweet
When with the vampire you had sex?
You can't go home again,
Anya.

Now there would be a fortress,
Where once there was a door
That might have allowed you in
Until you forced her to the floor.
You can't go home again,
Spike.

Picked up are all the pieces.
The time to heal is right.
The darkness is behind you now
That you've walked into the light.
You are home now,
Buffy.
