Remus Lupin's Comments on Being a Werewolf Teacher

By BertaS

Disclaimer: I'm just having fun.

I have had people tell me that my affliction can't be all bad, I am not sure I agree.

True being able to see in the infrared spectrum could be considered a good thing, I guess.

Heightened hearing has good and bad points. I mean there are things I would rather not hear, no one wants to hear Albus and Minerva doing… Ahgg, I don't even want to think about that.

Being stronger than the average person, well at least if it's not to close to the full moon is kind of cool, but I have to be careful or I could hurt someone accidentally.

But the thing that really gets to me. Yeah, yeah, the whole transformation thing and being sick for 3 or 4 days a month is a major pain in the hind-end.

But what really, really gets to me is the heightened sense of smell.

As I'm sure you know certain smells can trigger reactions that may not be entirely desirable.

For example, the sexual readiness of almost all of the students at Hogwarts is almost intolerable, and it's not just the girls because I can smell the boys as well.

Imagine this, you are teaching, sixth or seventh years, and you can smell which ones are ripe. Yes I mean actually turned on, not to mention the girls that are fertile. I must have had a stiffy half that year.

That must have been the hardest year of my life, (no pun intended) knowing that all those girls were ready, willing and able, but I had to keep 'Little Mooney' in my pants as it were. It was pure torture that's what it was.

Of course that wasn't all; the smell of blood during their time of the month was not easy either. I mean, hello, werewolf/blood, not a good combination.

I thought about talking to Snape about it but then realized, it's Snape, he is just going to laugh at you, then watch like a hawk to see if you slip up.

I think I could enjoy teaching if not for the smell. I don't know how they live in that sea of pheromones year after year.

So, you see why I'm not sure I agree with the statement, "It can't all be bad."
