Battling Fears
PROLOGUE
"You may enter," the blond-prince responded the urgent knock of his bedroom door. Without turning his head, Arthur prepared for the words of his manservant.
"Arthur," The young-sorcerer began, "Are you really prepared for this?"
The young blond sighed, "Merlin I told you a before-"
"I am dead aware of what you told me. But do you have any idea of the consequences?" Merlin anxiously replied.
"Of course I do!" Arthur snapped, "That is why I am willing to do this, and my decision is final,"
"I cannot let you do this,"
"Step aside now, Merlin," The blond rigidly spoke, "That's an order."
Merlin hasn't heard his master so serious. His tone so stern and severe. For a minute, Arthur was a king. The dark-haired servant obeyed his instructions and reluctantly shoved his feet to the side of the wooden door.
"Wait," Arthur paused to hear Merlin's saying, "Let me help you, please."
"Why do you keep reiterating this conversation?" The prince sighed, "It's far too dangerous,"
"I don't care!" Merlin reached the climax of his voice, "It is my duty to protect you from any critical harm and furthermore," he calmed his voice, "I can't just sit by and watch a friend die,"
Arthur agitated his head with irritation, "If you are my friend, then why don't you have more faith in me?" Harsh silence soon approached the thick atmosphere in the room. "Look," the prince continued, "I appreciate your offering of support, but I have valiant knights at my side. We'll get through this monstrous catastrophe like we always do. With courageous soldiers, Camelot shall live on with pride!" he enthusiastically ended.
Imperceptibly unsatisfied, Merlin curved a sad smile on his lips and watched as Arthur made his way outside. As the young prince placed his hand upon the brass door knob, Merlin spoke the last words Arthur would hear for the last time, or so he thought.
"What good would it be to Camelot if the heir to throne were to die?"
He paused, as that sentence was a merge of two different people. Arthur could hear Merlin's voice, but his father's stern words of judgment. The blond boy turned his head to face Merlin as the sorcerer made his was back to Gaius. Without further disruptions, the young prince hurried through the castle halls and outside to his readied soldiers.
And the adventure begins.
