Takuya pressed his shirt into Kouji's wound. "No." he said, frantically. "This isn't happening." He fumbled with the cloth. "You're going to be okay."

Kouji managed a half smile. "You idiot." he said breathlessly. "I think we both know I'm dying." A look of pain crossed his face, and he grimaced.

Takuya gasped and looked Kouji in the eyes. He was giving up. His eyes were cloudy, like a storm raged within them like the storm around them. Clutching his shirt so hard he worried it would rip, Takuya took Kouji's face in his hands.

"You can't fucking give up on me, Kouji! You're my best friend. You're my first love. How am I supposed to go on without you?" Tears streamed from his light brown eyes.

Kouji smirked from behind a mask of fear. "Takuya. I know…this isn't how you want it…I don't want my last thoughts of you…being sad. I want you…to smile for me." his voice grew quieter and weaker. He sounded like he was slowly choking. He pulled away gently, and took his love's hand.

A cry escaped Takuya's throat. "How can I smile if I know I'm saying goodbye to you?" he screamed, unable to face Kouji.

"Look at me." Lightning struck, lighting up the scene. "I don't want you to remember me like this. Close your eyes. Remember that time we went to the beach and we had our first kiss? When we made those paper airplanes and confessed our love for each other and flew them away? That's how I want you to remember me. I want you to remember how much I loved you, and all the fun times we had. You can't forget about them, alright? Write them all down, and send them to me on paper airplanes." His voice began to fade out.

"Kouji no." Takuya screamed, desperately trying to keep his friend awake. "Tell me a story. Tell me something. Anything."

"I love you. Don't…forget that…" His eyes closed.

"Kouji please don't do this to me…" Takuya sobbed, shaking his boyfriend's shoulders. "Y-You can't do this to me…YOU CAN'T LEAVE ME."

Kouji's tight grasp on Takuya's hand weakened, and finally, in his best friend's arms, Kouji's spirit slipped away from his body.

A brunette with gentle eyes awoke in the middle of his bedroom floor with various papers spread around him. He stretched and collected them all. With swift steps, he darted down a staircase and crossed his street; bound for the train station. The sky hung oddly that day. It was as if the world knew something was missing. He boarded the train without expression.

He exited just as quietly as he had entered, and stepped off. Three more blocks. Crossing one last street, he held his breath. The beach was right there. That place… Running, sprinting, he got to the shoreline. He pulled the papers from his shoulder bag, and hugged them to his chest. He folded them all into perfect airplanes, the way a friend once taught him, and sent them off towards the ocean, the breeze carrying them away. They disappeared into the horizon, as if the heavens knew just where they needed to go.

With a heavy heart, the auburn-haired boy turned away, and walked back to the train station, never to return to the place again.

Thanks for reading. :) It's up to you to decide how exactly Kouji died. But he was wounded in the abdominal area badly, so that counts for something? Anyways, thanks again.
