a/n: This one is pretty sad, so I'm sorry for that. It almost made me cry, and I wrote it. It's been sitting around for a while, sorry for not posting it. But here's oneshot three (for c)!
Have you ever just felt pain? An inexplicable pain every time you think about someone? Well that's how she felt every day. Watching from down the table as he pined after that girl. Just as she had finally begun to feel comfortable around him, as they had begun to form a friendship, she had discovered he had a crush. According to her brother, he was infatuated with an older girl.
Was she just not good enough? What did that girl have that she didn't? She stormed through the halls after the meeting, tears in her eyes. She had been waiting for him, simply wanting to talk, but his focus had been entirely on the girl who was filling both of their thoughts now. His in romance, hers in bitter jealousy.
Why couldn't he understand that the girl didn't care for him? Why couldn't he understand that she did? She hid in an abandoned classroom, hiding her tears with her vibrant red hair. As she silently cried, she heard footsteps. A single knock on the door had her looking up. It was him. Of course he chose this moment to focus on her.
Why was it the one person she didn't want to see? Why couldn't he let her cry over him in peace? "Is something wrong? Did something happen to you at the meeting?" he asked. She smiled slightly, he was always so caring. But that only seemed to hurt more when he focused on her, as she knew he would rather be talking to the other girl.
Why couldn't she bring herself to respond? Why was she stuck crying in silence? "What's the matter Ginny? Cat got your tongue?" She smiled at him slightly, knowing he really did care about her, even if it wasn't in the way she wanted him to. He was really awkward sometimes, she realized as she noticed him shifting about. She looked at him, eyes shimmering slightly, and managed to force herself to respond.
Why couldn't he care for her? Why was he here now? "I'm fine, Harry. Don't worry about me. I just needed some time to myself." The words spilled from her mouth without hesitation, though she wished she could pull them back in and ask him to stay with her instead.
Why did it hurt so much to see him standing there, caring for her? Why did she wish she was back when times were simpler? He turned to leave, and she caught him staring longingly after the girl he would rather be with. "Go, Harry. Cho is probably looking for you." He left, leaving her alone with a broken heart and a head full of dreams that would never come into reality.
Why was she always left like this? Why was she so alone, even in the midst of so many? She would never stop loving him. Cho would eventually realize how much Harry liked her. She knew that Cho would press him for answers about Cedric, and he would tell her. That boy would do anything for the ones he cared about. Whatever her mother said, showing she cared for him wouldn't work, not when his head was filled with thoughts of another.
And so Ginny Weasley sat, tears falling in her lap, as Cho's tears fell on Harry's shoulder.
