Prologue

Footsteps echoed along the corridor as she ran. She was running as fast as she could, trying to catch up with him. She ran past many doors and down many flights of stairs but she never caught a sight of him. He was much ahead of her.

She was very bothered by what he said to her a few moments ago.

Did he really mean it? Or was it a joke? But, if it were a joke, why was his expression much different than his usual self? She was confused, very confused.

After what almost felt like hours, she stopped running. Her feet were sore from all the running. Her dress was battered and torn. She was panting and gasping for breath.

Then, tears started to fall down her face. It was hopeless. She'd never be able to catch up with him. He had already left her.

She fell on her knees and cried. At this point, she didn't care whether or not he meant what he said. She just wanted to see him before he would walk out of her life.

She heard footsteps. They were getting closer and closer to where she was.

As she got up and started walking back to where she came from, unconsciously, she felt the person's footsteps following her. As she stopped walking, the footsteps came to a stop as well.

She turned around and immediately realized who this person was. It was him, whom she had been running after a little while ago.

All of a sudden, her knees got weak. Her heart started beating faster and faster. She felt very nervous as she stood right in front of the man she ran after earlier.

I really have to tell him, she said as she held her breath. Did he really mean what he said?
