The candles cast shadows across Cordelia's tired face and illuminated the visible signs of the years of disappointments she had lived through. Disappointments like tonight. She rose from the table, her plate of food as untouched as the one across from her, all done up for someone who wasn't there. It had been another no-show. Cordelia sighed as she collected up the plates and scraped all of the food into the bin before turning on the lights and blowing out the candles.
Tonight was the fifth anniversary of their marriage and Mori hadn't even made it to dinner. She knew why as well and it was part of why she could never get upset with him. Cordelia knew he wasn't doing this to her on purpose, it was just that as far as Mori was concerned, she was second best to his cousin Hunni, and there was nothing she could do about it.
Cordelia had been warned going into the marriage that she would never hold a stable place in his heart and yet she had still entertained the romantic notion of being the one girl to completely win him over, stealing all of his love even from Hunni. She had given up on that dream years ago though and now had a more realistic view of her life and her marriage.
As she finished clearing up the dishes from what had been the attempt at a romantic dinner she thought about how she would never the best to Mori, she would always come second to Hunni's first class spot in Mori's heart. Cordelia was Mori's second class lover.
A/N: We hope you enjoyed the story. It's what we think would happen if Mori got married.
