A/N: I think somewhere I read a spoiler that said Irina would help Jack if he let her go to Sydney's graduation-so here's my take on what it would be like...please tell me what you think!

I can't believe how proud I am of Sydney. I can already feel the hot tears gathering behind my eyes. She looks so happy, so normal. She smiles as she switches the gold tassel on her graduation cap across it's top. It is a smile I missed for 20 years.

Jack won't let me leave the car, with it's mysterious shaded windows and dark interior. I long to hug my daughter as I watch her cross the stage and bow as applause fills the air. She steps off the stage to be greeted by a dark-skinned woman and a fair-haired and skinned man. But she looks past them when they embrace her, her eyes searching the courtyard and its occupants. She must be looking for Jack. I suddenly feel guilty for asking him to bring me, forcing him to stay in the car to watch me.

Sydney turns back to her friends, smiling sadly. I read the woman's lips as she speaks to Sydney.

"What's wrong Syd?"

"Oh, it's nothing. I just don't see my dad, I guess he couldn't make it."

"I'm sorry hun."

They embrace again. The man watches them, somehow understanding.

Jack abruptly turns back to me, "Don't go anywhere." he warns as he steps out of the car, headed toward Sydney. I watch again as they speak.

"Hey Sydney!" he smiles and the other man and woman back off, leaving Jack to speak with Sydney.

"I'm sorry I couldn't come out," he whispers, "I have your mother in the car."

Sydney abruptly turns toward the car he emerged from just seconds ago. She smiles at the car, even though I know she cannot see me through the tinted windows. I put my cuffed palms to the glass of the window, reaching out to touch her in vain.

She turns back to Jack as he dismisses himself, congratulating her again. He enters the car again, revving the engine.

As the car warms up, I see another graduate approach her. He is a handsome young man, someone any girl would die for. Or almost any girl.

"Hey Sydney! We're going to the bar over on Vermont, wanna come?"

"No thanks Kevin, I have plans already."

I know her heart belongs to someone else.

She walks away politely, rejoining her friends.

"Hey! Let's go to the restaurant to celebrate!" The woman smiles widely.

"Sure..." Sydney trails off, suddenly grabbing at her side, pulling a tiny black pager from her pocket.

"Wait, lemme guess, work, right?" The woman looks annoyed, " I can't believe they're calling you on your graduation day!" she fumes.

"I'm sorry guys, I have to go right now." Sydney looks down.

"It's alright Syd, we'll go to the restaurant anyway, maybe you can make it later." The man speaks kindly.

"Okay, great! I'll see you later then." Sydney walks away, pulling her graduation robe and cap over her head. I see her get into her car as we drive out of the parking lot.

"SD-6 called her, didn't they?" I ask Jack and he nods. I shake my head in disbelief.

"They always seem to call her when she tries to have fun, to have a normal life." Jack adds sadly.

From that moment on, I promise myself to be more cooperative to take down SD-6. My daughter needs a normal life, and as a mother, it is my mission in life to give her just that.
