Mary came into the newsroom, one morning. Murray was typing away.
"Hi, Mur."
"Hi, Mare. I had a dream about you, last night!"
"Was it a nice dream?"
"It was kinda weird. I dreamed that I saw you walking around the office barefooted!"
She smiled. "Barefooted?"
"Yep. In fact, you were wearing that red dress you wore a couple days ago."
"Well, I'm sure my bare feet went well with it!"
He chuckled. "They did! And I asked you why you were barefooted, and you said, 'I like to go barefoot.'"
"Well, I do—but not at work!"
They both laughed. She sat at her desk. Lou came out.
"Hi, Mr Grant."
"Mary, I had a strange dream about you, last night!"
"You, too? Murray also had one about me!"
He quickly told Lou his dream.
"Mine was even weirder. I dreamed that you were my boss!"
"HUH?!," Mary and Murray said together.
"Yep. And you fired me!"
"Oh, Mr Grant, I'm so sorry! But why did I do that?"
"I'm not quite sure. Something about getting some reports wrong, or something like that. But you did make up for it, a bit."
"How so?"
"We shared a bottle of scotch together! Best scotch I've ever had!"
"Well, that does make up for firing you!"
He chuckled. Then he went back in his office.
Throughout all of this, Ted was standing around. Finally, he walked up to Mary."
"As it turns out, I also had a dream about you, last night!"
"You too, Ted?"
"Yep! I dreamed that. . . on second thought, I'd better not tell you about it!" He walked away.
Mary and Murray looked at each other, shook their heads, and smiled.
