A/N - Just a bit of fun... conversations I could see between Mary and Marshall...
Hope you like it.

...
They walked into the office deep in conversation.
"You named the cat 'Doofus'?" Marshall asked, keeping his voice slow and even as if drawing it out would somehow make it make more sense.
"Well, I couldn't exactly call him Numbnutz or F-wit could I? It would upset the neighbors."
He got up and closed his door, watching Marshall shake his head in disbelief. It actually kind of did make sense... in a Mary Shannon kind of way.
...
Marshall was sitting at his desk, trying desperately not to get involved in the conversation Mary was having with her mother over the phone. Ever since Mary had agreed to be her sister's Maid of Honor the calls had increased. What had changed was that Mary was actually taking them.
"No... mom... trust me on this okay? I've got it covered."
She shook her head as she hung up and looked at Marshall.
"What!"
Marshall simply shook his head. "How exactly is inviting your cousin constitute making sure he doesn't show up?"
Mary looked at him and shrugged as if it was obvious. "If I don't invite him, he'll come out of spite. If he's invited he wouldn't step within 20 miles of the church. What are we doing for lunch?"
Stan was amazed at how well Marshall dealt with her abrupt change in topic as he suggested Thai.
...
"What do they mean, 'water landing?' Mary asked as she turned from the screen and looked at the others.
They had been watching the 'Miracle on the Hudson' as news reports came in and while everyone was happy they'd made it, Mary had decided to take umbrage with, of all things, the term 'water landing'.
"'Water Landing' is for craft designed to land on the water. Even with the Apollo Missions when they 'landed' in the ocean they had the decency to call it a 'splash down' . 'Water Landing?'.. Really? Because from where I'm sitting I'm pretty sure they still call that a crash."
He wanted to object... but she had a point.
...
They were fighting again.
"Was not."
"Did too..."
Sometimes he swore they were worse than children.
"Will you two cut it out?"
"Stan, just tell him he's wrong."
"Nuh-uh"
"Are too."
Stan looked at them, no closer to figuring out what they were arguing about, but it was vaguely good natured.
"I don't care.. just stop it."
The two of them looked at each other and smiled. Mary held out her hand and waited until Marshall coughed up ten dollars.
"Told you," she said triumphantly.
Stan was pretty sure he didn't want to know.
...
"Did you know that the Chevy Nova did not sell well in Spanish speaking countries because 'No Va' means 'it doesn't go'?"
Mary feigned interest for a moment before shaking her head. "No, I'm going to with the fact that they named it after a cataclysmic nuclear explosion."
