Full Summary: A tribute to Tama, one of the smartest cats ever. Certainly saved all their hides enough.
Tama as in Gem
"We should call him Tama!" suggested Miaka.
"Tama? As in Tamahome, or as in Gem?"
"Well... both!" giggled the miko. "Tamahome because he's awesome, and Gem because your kitty has saved us so many times that he's a very valuable member of the team!"
"Fine," Mitsukake agreed. "Tama as in Gem. It fits him."
Tama purred.
In the next instant, there were a lot of things that Mitsukake didn't expect. Miaka spouting off poetry was very high on the list. But that's exactly what happened.
"A cat named Tama
Tama as in Gem
When the baddies
make us... want to... run to our Mommas,
Tama stands and
fights with them."
"Miaka... I love you dearly... but no more." Mitsukake shuddered at her poetry. "Everyone will get the point."
Miaka just grinned.

A/N: -grin- A short little ficlet for Tama-neko. Yes, Tama does mean gem – my Japanese friend named her cat Tama, and she told me that. No, Mitsukake is not referring to a romantic type love; he's talking about the love between seishi and miko only. Or maybe a sibling type thing.
And yes, I am a very bad poet. This time, it was on purpose.
