Bovino gets adopted into Sawada household.
Bovino is raised by the young boy Sawada and the people around him.
Bovino lives happily ever after in an environment where he is cared for. Simple story, no?
That's the way the story should have ended, but instead, 11 years into the future, Bovino Lambo was miserable. Now, it should be pointed out that Lambo gets sad and upset often but this time the sadness loomed overhead, no matter how long or how hard he cried. He dealt with it like his other problems in life; by simply blaming Reborn. It was Reborn's fault that the Bovino family hasn't bothered to contact him since he was 6, Reborn's fault that he couldn't have Vongola to himself…
Not that Lambo had problems getting Tsuna to himself if he really had the mind to; Tsuna still saw him as the helpless five year old brat that somehow ended up living in his house so no, that wasn't the problem at all. The problem was that, that Vongola loved Lambo as a brother, and not as a lover like the bastard Reborn had the luck to. Lambo did love Vongola like a brother once, but as he grew older he appreciated all the little things that the brunette did for him and soon, Lambo just loved him. Lambo was too late though; Lambo lost to Reborn (he could have sworn that Reborn purposely took his big brother away from him out of spite…but Vongola's happiness seemed sincere).
So now Lambo hides his emotions. He doesn't want to be a bother to his boss and brother so he distances himself inch by inch so he'll know. Not even I-pin knows about this, and he doesn't shy from telling her anything.
But Reborn knows. He was sure of that. The tutor's glare holds something more these days when Lambo feels the need to flirt and make his older brother flustered (flirting is a skill, Lambo tries to rationalize, you don't use it, and you lose it).
Lambo can't love Vongola the way he wants to. That fact is obvious whenever Reborn puts a possessive arm around Tsuna's waist, or the late nights when disheveled Tsuna limps out the office and Reborn follows, not a hair out of place. At these moments, he takes a deep breath and tries to brush it off in order to keep up with the nonchalant demeanor he's known for.
He tries to move on, he truly does. Other….blonde distractions and his new silverette helps him momentarily forget, he can't waste his life after one person, but the longing glances and the prolonged stares are still there.
Lambo may not be able to love Vongola as a lover but it's obvious he has to move on as painful as it is. So he keeps up appearances, as lazy as he could, so only God knows. Sometimes he wonders about how a relationship would be like with Vongola and he worries about how Vongola would react when he finds out the bovine's feelings…Lambo hides under the covers confused.
But at the end of the day, he knows he can't go on like this forever. He knows he lost, and brooding over it every day doesn't help anyone.
But before he sleeps, he can see Reborn's smirk in his eyelids, and his eyes form the words 'You lose, you lose…'
