Better off: Splinter wonders if his boys are better off with Cody in the future than they are with him in the past. One shot Splinter centric.

He watches, one eye open as he tries to meditate, thinking of all that has changed since coming to the future.

His boys are bouncing off of the furniture again, he's sure just to annoy the robot. Even with the new virtual training room, they still prefer to train in Cody's living room. He wonders if it is because they miss the old room, the one he built just for them, or if it is simply because none of them can get the feeling of awe out every time the sun rises and they can be there to greet it.

He knows that Mikey is happy now that the cupboards are stocked with enough food to last a lifetime, when before he had to scrounge for every bite.

He knows that Donatello has never been happier, with a lab full of proper equipment he can build whatever his heart desires instead of having to wait for him to bring something home that isn't broken, out of batteries, or five years old.

He knows, even if Leonardo tries to hide it that his boys prefer the new sharper weapons to the old, worn ones that he had found in a pawn shop.

He knows, even Raphael, who constanly complains about the future, wouldn't change the fact that he can walk freely down the street without hearing the words "freak" or "monster" following him.

He knows that even he has found peace in this new world. He stands, old bones creaking in protest, and smiles even as he wonders if his boys will return with him when their time in the future is up.

End.

I don't know if this got the point across, but I hope you liked.
