Chapter 1
Jack sat in of the seats in the situation room. It had been 13 hours since he had secured the nuclear weapons and killed Abu Fayed. He had then go to Marilyn and Josh's house and taken a shower before Bill had called him in a couple of hours ago to discuss an urgent matter. Jack assumed it would just be clearing up a few details of yesterday. He'd been waiting for a couple of minutes when Bill entered the room.
"Hi Jack" Bill said reaching across to shake Jack's hand.
"What's this about Bill?" Jack asked not wanting to spend a minute longer in CTU than he had to
Bill sat down and opened up the file before beginning to speak.
"To secure your release from China we had to pay a very steep price. We offered them everything but what they wanted was a prisoner who was more valuable than you" Bill summarised
"You let somebody take my place" Jack said accusingly wincing at the fact that somebody else would now be the one in that hellhole.
"It's Audrey Jack." Bill told him
"What!" Jack shouted and he wasn't surprised to see a lot of people stare at him.
"She volunteered. The Chinese were keen to have he.." Bill spoke but Jack interrupted
"She's never had field training or how to handle torture she won't last a second. She doesn't know what she's doing. You've got to call her back" Jack said desperation entering his voice
"She's gone Jack. We handed her over at the same time you arrived back" Bill told him.
"We can intercept her. She'll be on a boat still heading for China" Jack said trying desperately to recover the situation
"They took her on a plane Jack. She wanted me to give you this letter" Bill handed it to him and Jack picked it up.
"I'm not giving her up Bill. I'm going after her. Why the hell did you let her do this?" Jack said furiously
"It was her choice Jack" Bill said sympathetically
"And if it was Karen in the same place? You shouldn't have let her go Bill. I'm going to get her back"
Jack stormed out of the room slamming the door but not before taking the letter with him.
