SPOILERS FOR 5x11

Disclaimer: I do not own Merlin. I'm just a fan.

Note: The first bit is just the conversation between Morgana and Mordred as seen in 5x11.

I realised that I haven't written anything in ages, so I felt like writting a one shot for Merlin.

Morgana's thoughts when Mordred tells her who Emrys is.

Comments are appreciated.

Mordred was pushed down onto the floor right in front of Morgana. She was looking down onto him.

"My old friend." She said.

"Last time we met you tried to kill me." She recalled.

Mordred looked up into her eyes.

"I am here for a purpose Morgana." Mordred said. "I did not break stride to find you."

He paused.

"I bring you the news you have longed for."

"Arthur's death?" She asked.

"The key to it." He responded.

"I was wrong to ever question your wisdom my lady. And I wish to make amends."

Morgana nodded desperately at him.

"Tell me." She said.

"There is someone you have been searching for. Someone who has always eluded you." He replied.

"Emrys." She insisted.

"I know where he is!" Mordred snarled.

"Where?"

"Camelot."

Morgana was stunned at his response.

"And I have his true name." Mordred paused. "It is Merlin."

Morgana couldn't believe this. Was this actually the truth?

"Merlin. Of all the people, Emrys is Merlin?" Morgana thought to herself.

She started thinking of all the times with Merlin. She's known him for years now; she used to see him around the castle every day! She wondered how she could have missed this. They used to be friends.

Morgana didn't know what to say. What to even do.

She remembered the time when she went in search of Gaius, but found Merlin instead. It was when she was scared. She knew that she had magic. It was either that or she was going insane. She remembered her biggest fear was herself. Her magic and the danger it would get her into. But when she needed help, no one was really there. She wondered if anything would be different if she'd known earlier about Merlin's magic.

She pushed that thought out of her head. It was like she didn't want to remember. How could someone as powerful as she was, once be so scared and alone?

She recalled another conversation with Merlin. She remembered herself saying "You don't have magic Merlin, how could you hope to understand?" But how wrong she was. He did have magic. She wondered if maybe he did understand what it would be like. But after thinking about it, she came to the conclusion that he wouldn't have understood. He didn't know what it was like to be the Kings Ward. To be raised in a world where you're taught that magic was bad. That it was like a curse.

Morgana wasn't thinking straight. How could Merlin, Arthur's manservant, be her destiny and doom? How could he be the powerful Emrys?

They were once friends. Good friends even.

"Emrys isn't Merlin. It can't be."
