I walked up the stairs, knocking on my boyfriend's door. I had been invited to live at the Burrow since the war ended. Since Percy had his own flat, Mrs. Weasley said I could live in his room. My boyfriend, George, had not been seen by his family in weeks; dealing with the death of his twin was hard. He requested I bring his food up to him. I had dated George since I was fourteen and he was sixteen. I was a spontaneous relationship, but it ended well. Many people wondered how and why we became a couple. The Slytherins made bets about how long we would last; George ignored them. When I heard the door open a crack, I was brought out of my revier. George was looking at me, his eyes puffy and red. No doubt he had been crying.
"Yes, love?" he asked me softly. "Dinner time already?" He had to have been out of it; it was midnight. "'It's really dark. Mum must've took too long to cook. What's for dinner?"
I sighed and walked in. George stepped back and closed the door. He moved to his bed and patted the spot next to him. I sat down and he wrapped his arms around me as he buried his face in my hair. I felt dampness and realized he had started to cry again. "George," I started. "are you okay? You do realize it's midnight. I'm worried."
"About what?" came his muffled voice.
"You. Since Fred...died...you've been distancing yourself from your family. What if you just stop talking to them? What if you...?" I stopped.
"What, Hermione?" he asked, worry covering his voice.
"What if we break up? What if you just shut yourself off from everyone, everything?" I breathed in shakily. "I love you. Did you know that?"
I felt his head lift up off my shoulder; turning my head slightly, I saw that he was looking at me with a funny expression. I remembered that this was the only expression he had had on his face since the war. Usually, his face was blank. "You think that I'd...break up with you?" he asked. I nodded yes. "Hermione, I will never leave you. Not ever. I love you more than life its self. You are my world."
A small tear came down my cheek. George noticed and wiped it away with his thumb. "So you'll never leave me?" I asked, a small smile on my lips.
"I'll never leave you."
He never did...
I think this is one of my better fanfactions. Review.
